Bud Ferillo was selected as the recipient of The South Carolina Education Association's Walker E. Solomon Award, which recognizes individuals who have worked for the eradication of racial inequities in the education profession, schools, and communities. Bud is the coordinator of the S.C. Collective for Racial Reconciliation at the University of South Carolina.


Michael Raymondo is a partner in the Tampa CPA offices of Skoda Minotti. He specializes in accounting, auditing, small-business services, and strategic tax planning.


Ray Blouin a former member of the RCA Victor Recording folk music group, The Wayfarers, is in the process of recording his 18th album of folk music, the vast majority being songs he has written over the years.


Jorge Squier is senior vice president of global supply chain at GTM International, LLC, which has recently acquired quantiQ in Brazil, making GTM the largest independent chemical distributor in Latin America.


Beth Caldwell Drake has been appointed U.S. Attorney for the District of South Carolina. Prior to her appointment, she had served for six years as First Assistant U.S. Attorney and had been an Assistant United States Attorney for over 20 years.


Catharine Smith Almquist has been named vice president for academic affairs at Trident Technical College in Charleston. Catharine has a master's degree in immunobiology from Iowa State University and a doctorate from the University of Maryland in community college policy and administration.


LeeAnn Rawson is a certified health coach in Mount Pleasant. She received her training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition's Health Coach Training Program, and wrote The U Diet, a book on how diets do not work.

Brian Rutenberg's artwork will be displayed at the Forum Gallery in New York City in an exhibition entitled Lowcountry: New Paintings, from March 23 through May 6, 2017.


Mary Beth Abel and husband, Taylor Sherman, are proud parents of Kaden Clarke Abel Sherman, born in Seattle, WA on November 9, 2016. Mary Beth is the owner of Abel Editing and Abel Lockets.

Peter Rourk has been promoted to head of national sales at Monarch Private Capital, a national investor in affordable housing, solar energy, and historical preservation. He will lead the nationwide expansion of the company's operations through strategic tax credit investment programs.


Will Sherrod was named Realtor of Distinction in the Commercial Circle for 2016. Will is a Realtor and principal at Lee & Associates Charleston. The award recognizes the top producing Charleston realtors.


Cherisse Jones-Branch (M.A. '97) addressed the Annual Meeting of the Jackson County Historical Society in February 2017. She talked about African American women in rural Arkansas and the many roles they have played in the life and economy of the state. Dr. Jones-Branch is a professor of history and director of the Digital Press at Arkansas State University -Jonesboro.


Kristen Schulze McDermott and husband, Jason, were a featured family in The Daniel Island News in February. Both are teachers at Daniel Island School. Kristen earned a master's degree in reading literacy from The Citadel.

Shannon Murray has joined PharmRight Corporation, a healthcare technology company based in Charleston, as a sales executive.


Charles Meier has joined Bluetowne as a senior account executive in Charleston. Bluetowne is a leading provider of innovative information technology solutions and infrastructure managed services. Charles will be responsible for the company's growth in Charleston and the greater Southeast region.


Heather Tiszai is a gardening teacher and program coordinator at Whatcom Hills Waldorf School in Bellingham, WA. She and her husband, Joe Hoats '98, have two daughters: Pearl, born May 9, 2006, and Juniper, born October 23, 2009.


Heather Ferris is assistant professor of medicine at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. She earned both her Ph.D. in molecular physiology and biological physics, and her M.D. from the University of Virginia.

Amy Macchiaverna Springett has joined Gallivan, White and Boyd, P.A. as the Greenville, SC law firm's marketing and communications manager.


Mark Mattison has been named a vice president at Colliers International South Carolina. Mark specializes in office and medical office brokerage in the Charleston market, representing buyers, sellers, tenants, and landlords.


Kate Creech Cabral and husband, Stevie, are proud parents of Jackson Graham Cabral, born March 9, 2017 in Bermuda.

Jody Lumpkin (M.S. '01) has been promoted to head of the upper school at Hammond School in Columbia, SC. Jody is an alumnus of Hammond, and has taught at the school for the past 13 years. He has held the roles of chair of the math department and chair of the Academic Council.


Faith Corbo married Andrew Arifian on June 18, 2016 and is a marketing manager for lubricant additives at King Industries in Norwalk, CT. Faith earned both her M.B.A. and her Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of Connecticut.

Matthew Bell is a Coastal Carolina University lecturer of visual arts, and participated in the American Studies Lecture Series: Images and Icons of America in March 2017. He discussed the contributions of Alfred Hitchcock to filmmaking. Matthew has a master's degree in film from Boston University.

Caroline Catingub and husband, Andrew Fay welcomed their son, Oscar "Otto" Fay, on September 15, 2016.

Eric McColloch has joined full-line, high-end vendor Bernhardt Furniture as director of transportation.

Katie Zimmerman is the new executive director of Charleston Moves, a nonprofit which advocates on cycling and pedestrian issues.


Rich Robinson lives in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ, and is vice president of Member Rebate Program, a company which provides builders, regardless of their volume, the same rebate from manufacturers that the top five builders receive. Rich has been chosen as one of Professional Builder's 2017 40 Under 40.

E.B. Tucker is the editor of The Casey Report, a monthly investment newsletter, and was recently elected to the board of directors of Metalla Royalty & Streaming, Ltd. (MTA) on the Canadian Securities Exchange.


Rhodes Bailey was recipient of the Jay Cooper True Public Defender Award in 2016 from the Richland County (SC) Public Defender's Office. Rhodes earned his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2007. He and his wife, Dare, have a daughter, Katrina Dare, and a son, Haywood Perry.

Betsy Brabham has joined the Daniel Island Performing Arts Center as director of advancement.

Catherine Holland Chase has been named a partner at Young Clement Rivers LLP in Charleston. She received her J.D. from Charleston School of Law, and practices primarily in the commercial litigation and appellate, primary casualty, and trucking and transportation practice groups.

Angharad Chester-Jones is the public relations director for Momentum Marketing in Charleston. Her clients include Baker Motor Company, Bridge Run, Gwynn's, Queen Street Hospitality, and many more including auto clients in Chicago, New York, and California.


Matthew Brockbank joined Carolina One Real Estate in downtown Charleston as a Realtor in January.

Jen Dowd has been promoted to chief operating officer at BackBay Communications, a leading financial services branding, content marketing and public relations specialist firm in Boston. Jen earned an M.A. in ancient history from University College London.

Alicia Hatter married Kevin Weir on September 2, 2016. Alicia is a senior user experience researcher at The Vanguard Group in Philadelphia. She earned her Ph.D. in rhetoric, communication, and information design from Clemson University in 2011. She also has a master's degree in literary studies from Georgia State University.

Anne Bumgardner Hopkins is the director of development at Georgia State University, College of Law.

Joe Palma returned to Charleston and participated in the 2017 Charleston Wine and Food Festival. He is executive chef of Bourbon Steak at the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, DC.

Kelly Gilmore Willis (M.S. '05) joined Jarrard, Nowell and Russell, LLC, a Charleston-based accounting and business advisory firm, as senior accountant in the Summerville office. Kelly, her husband, David, and their four children live in Summerville.

Michael Ann Mullikin Wilson and her husband, Sean, are proud parents of Cassius William, born on March 12, 2017. The Wilson family lives in Seattle where Michael Ann is the company manager for the Pacific Northwest Ballet.


Dave Bonzagni and his wife, Dahlia, are proud parents of Benjamin Bonzagni, born March 13, 2016. Dave is a special assistant district attorney with the Rhode Island Department of Attorney General. He earned his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in 2011.

Corinne Boyer earned a master's degree in journalism from the University of Oregon in 2015. She is a news reporter for Eugene Weekly in Eugene, OR, and was recently named the 2017 Tom Parker Excellence in Media recipient for her article, Overprescribed Opiates, which detailed the national opioid addiction epidemic through the lens of an Oregonian who struggled with, and overcame, opioid addiction. She has also worked with KLCC-NPR for Oregonians, The Source Weekly, Charleston City Paper, Lane Monthly Magazine, and her research has appeared in The New Yorker.

Julie Proell Reeves was named the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Region Six White-nose Syndrome Coordinator in August 2016, and is now heavily involved in slowing the spread of the deadly bat disease. Julie earned an M.S. in ecology from Kent State University and lives in Wyoming. She and her husband, Justin, have one daughter, Zoey, born January 1, 2015.


Jenna Brown and Matthew Morse welcomed their daughter, Adelaide Birch Morse, born November 16, 2016. The family lives in Sumter, SC.

Emily Simons Lichtman will complete her M.D. at Harvard Medical School in May, and will be moving to Colorado for her medical residency. Emily and her husband, Michael, are proud parents of Asher Daniel Lichtman, born April 28, 2016.

Tadj Schreck and her husband, Nathanael Matthiesen, are proud parents of Asa Shreck Matthiesen, born March 4, 2017. The family lives in Guilford, VT.


Joey Froneberger and Wayne Helmley were married in Charleston in January 2017. Joey is a real estate agent with The Boerman Group at AgentOwned Realty in Charleston.

Rachael Nemeth is founder and CEO of ESL Works, an employee education company which designs and facilitates training programs for employees who do not speak English as their first language.

Seth Norat is chief operating officer at AppHarvest, a company dedicated to creating jobs and growing food in reclaimed coal-mining land in Appalachia.


Caitlin Patneaude Davenport and husband, Ryan, welcomed their daughter, Olivia Flora Davenport, March 5, 2017. The family lives in Orlando, FL.

Michael Jowers and Adrian Stewart were married May 16, 2016 on Folly Beach. They met during their senior year at the College and took two historic preservation classes and an archaeology class together.

Elena Rodriguez is a research and instruction librarian at the Addlestone Library at the College of Charleston.


Leah Cordoni works at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine's Center for Disability Resources as a program coordinator for the Transition Alliance of South Carolina. She will complete her M.Ed. in special education in May.

Annie Madren Young has returned from France and joined Handsome Properties in Charleston as a sales associate. She has served as the director of international sales and assistant to the broker-in-charge and owner since 2013.


Kuleigh Beckett Baker is an administrative assistant for the City of North Augusta's engineering and public works, and planning and development departments.

Kristen Gehrman earned her master's degree in language science and communication from the University of Lausanne in Switzerland in 2015, and resides in The Hague, Netherlands.

Hugh McDermott and Hope Palmer were married March 18, 2017 in Chevy Chase, MD. Hope is an associate producer based in Washington for the "Today" show on NBC, and Hugh works in Washington, where he manages a staff of speakers at Everytown for Gun Safety, a nonprofit organization based in New York that focuses on the prevention of gun violence.

Jessica Mitsch, executive director at the Iron Yard coding school in Durham, NC, focuses on bringing more women into technology-based careers on a national level.

Annie Pease earned a masters of regional planning (M.R.P.) from Cornell University in 2016, and works at University Circle Incorporated in Cleveland, OH, as a transportation planning manager.

Alex Percival is senior manager of programs at the United States Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C.

Mekenzie Rosen-Stone and Taylor Pratt-Thomas are proud parents of Skylar Rose Pratt-Thomas, born January 3, 2017.

Margaret Tanner and Daniel Sherwood Miler IV were married on March 11, 2017, in Charleston. Margaret earned a master's degree in physician assistant studies from the Medical University of South Carolina and is employed by East Cooper Coastal Family Physicians. Sherwood is a fourth-year dental student at the Medical University of South Carolina.


Evan Berke has lived in New York City since 2013 and pursued his dream of working in comedy. The Atlanta native will perform at the Basement Theatre in Buckhead on April 9, as a part of a nine-city tour he is helping produce with fellow comedian, Dusty Slay.

Allison Calder is an associate brand manager of OTC/ Mederma at Merz North America and obtained her master's degree in global luxury and innovation management in 2015 from North Carolina State University.

Claire DeBuys was named Teacher of the Year for Terry Parker High School in Jacksonville, FL and is among the top 25 teachers in the District of Duval County. Claire teaches high school geometry and is in her fifth year teaching since being recruited by Teach for America.

Megan McNamara joined the Charleston Bike Share Program as general manager.

Andra Oprisan will graduate from the Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine on May 19, 2017

Haley Specter married Stewart Willingham "Will" Davis on March 19, 2016 in Charleston. Sarah Specter '16 served as the maid of honor. Haley resides in Greenville, SC and is employed as a strategic project coordinator for the Care Coordination Institute.

Eric Stallings is an eighth grade English teacher at Baptist Hill High School and was among five other Charleston County School District finalists for Teacher of the Year.


Jordan Boyd is choral director at the Berkeley Center for the Arts in Goose Creek, a singer in a local choir and an assistant conductor of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra Chorus. He is married to his college sweetheart, Sara Grant '14, who owns Sara Bee Photography.

Tyson Dutton has joined Mason Preparatory School in downtown Charleston as director of technology.

Emily Rogers is the assistant director of corporate affairs for DECA, Inc. in Reston, VA. She is currently working on her M.P.A. at George Mason University.


Barrett Hawkins earned a master's degree in public health in December 2016 from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health, and is attending the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine for her M.D.

Nathan Johnson (M.B.A.) joined Buxton & Collie, LLC in Mount Pleasant as an associate attorney for corporate and transactional matters. Nathan earned his J.D. from Charleston School of Law.

Brittnee Leysen is a youth education series facilitator at Walt Disney World in Orlando. She is completing a master's degree and Ph.D. at the University of Glasgow in Celtic Studies, and will present original research at the 2017 International Congress of Onomastic Sciences conference in Debrecen, Hungary.

Amanda Watts is earning an M.S. in physician assistant studies at the Medical University of South Carolina and expects to graduate in August 2018.


Erika Bailey is currently working on her masters in school psychology at the Teachers College at Columbia University, and expects to graduate in the spring of 2019.

Emily Berich is a senior research coordinator at the Sheppard Pratt Lieber- Research Institute in Towson, MD. She is currently working on several clinical research projects in neuropsychiatry which are focused on either brain injury or autism spectrum disorder.

Megan Hall is the communications and administrative coordinator at Artisphere in Greenville, SC.

Emily Henderson is earning her J.D. at Boston University School of Law. She is a member of the Review of Banking and Financial Law Journal, as well as a Legal Writing Fellow, mentoring first-year students on how to write legal documents. Emily will be a summer associate at a NYC law firm this summer.

Madison Tarleton has been accepted into the University of Denver and Iliff School of Theology joint Ph.D. program for religious studies. She will begin her studies in September.


Canyon Barry was named first-team CoSIDA Academic All-American for maintaining a 4.0 GPA in graduate courses in nuclear engineering at the University of Florida. Canyon is the second men's basketball player in University of Florida's history to earn Academic All-American honors.

Marla Blaker is the safe kids coordinator at McLeod Health in Florence, SC.

Montana Feix is an acquisition program manager for the United States Special Operations Command.

Ashley Gerthoffer is marketing coordinator at Sonitrol Security in Charlotte, NC.

Aliana Holliday has joined the Charleston branding agency, Rawle Murdy, as an account coordinator.
