Nancy Kay, chief executive officer, president, and founder of LifePoint, has retired after 32 years of continuous service to the organization which has saved thousands of patients on the organ transplant waiting list. LifePoint is the federally certified organ, eye, and tissue procurement organization for most of South Carolina.

Susan Clark Marlowe was elected to The National Special Forces Charitable Trust Board of Directors in Washington, DC, in November. The Board provides meaningful and sustainable support for the Special Forces community and their families.


Leeann Atherton is an active musician, has eight recordings under her belt, and teaches music in public school in Austin, TX. She will be returning to Charleston this spring to play at Awendaw Green on May 3.

Kathleen Baldwin is a facilities manager for buildings and grounds maintenance at Stanford University, and won an Amy J. Blue Award which honors staff members who are dedicated and passionate about their work. KB is also a print maker for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.


Steve Dykes was selected as one of Charleston Business Magazine's 50 Most Influential in January. He was among local officials playing a key role in attracting the $500 million Mercedes Sprinter Van assembly plant. Steve serves as executive director of Charleston County Economic Development.


Kitty Shertzer Robinson was selected as one of Charleston Business Magazine's 50 Most Influential in January. Kitty is executive director of the Historic Charleston Foundation.


Kirk Moore has been named president and chief executive officer of TW Metals, a full-line specialty metals distributor and O'Neal Industries affiliate. Kirk will move into his new role in April. He has been with TW Metals since 2002.


Ernest Andrade was selected as one of Charleston Business Magazine's 50 Most Influential in January. A tech visionary, Ernest is founder and executive director of the Charleston Digital Corridor.


Swain Banks Marion joined Lowcountry Styles as a sales associate in Charleston. The company is a leader in direct sales fashion for women.


Hank Futch is bassist for the Blue Dogs, a Charleston-based roots rock group, which recently played their 4th annual Homecoming Concert at the Charleston Music Hall in December. Hank is also the owner of Hank Futch Real Estate, LLC in Mount Pleasant.


Wood Marchant joined the College of Charleston as director of the recently launched Collegiate Recovery Program. Previously, Wood was a clinical instructor at the Medical University of South Carolina's Center for Drug and Alcohol Programs.

Steve Swanson was selected as one of Charleston Business Magazine's 50 Most Influential in January. He serves as the inside director of operations and strategy at SnapCap. He was formerly the co-founder, president and CEO of Automated Trading Desk, and co-chaired the College's BOUNDLESS Campaign.


Joe Keadle has been named chief operating officer at Automotive Finance Corporation (AFC) in Carmel, IN. AFC is one of the largest providers of independent dealer inventory financing in North America, Joe joined the company in 2010 and most recently served as AFC's senior vice president of operations.

Cindy Pittman Santa Ana graduated with honors from the Academy of Culinary Nutrition in 2016. She is founder of Unlock Better Health, and is lead health coach at Amen Clinics in Reston, VA.


Jody Stallings is a teacher at Moultrie Middle School in Mount Pleasant, and writes a weekly column for the East Cooper Moultrie News called "Teacher to Parent".


Forest Mahan was elected to the board of Citizens for Nuclear Technology Awareness for 2017-18. Forest recently became the fifth president of Aiken Technical College.


Russell Todd Crawford earned his Ph.D in psychology from Grand Canyon University in 2016. His dissertation was "The Impact of Ocean Therapy on Veterans with Post Traumatic Disorder" .His practice is located in Virginia Beach, VA.

Frank Herrera and Koy Matta '15 recently traveled to Nicaragua to attend the Puro Sabor Nicaraguan Cigar Festival in Esteli. Frank is the owner of H New Media Law and represents Koy's company, RoMa Craft Tobac.


Chad Carithers, the most decorated College of Charleston men's soccer player in program history, was inducted into the College of Charleston Athletics Hall of Fame in January.

Bob Fairbairn is a benefits advisor, focusing on large group benefits, with McLaughlin & Smoak Benefits in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Kimberly Butterfly Rudd is a psychiatrist in Columbia, SC, focusing on geriatric psychiatry. She has been elected a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and joins an elite group of psychiatrists who make significant contributions to their field.


Robert Ricks (MPA) and his wife, Alexandra, own a small restaurant in Fryeburg, Maine called D's Catering. Robert retired from the U.S. Army in 2015 and is pursuing a master of jurisprudence in energy law at the University of Tulsa. He was recently appointed to the Town of Fryeburg Planning Board.

Marie Majarais Smith works for Pendleton Place in Greenville, SC, as director of the Family Bridges program. The non-profit provides services that are specifically designed to strengthen families while maintaining safety for children and the important adults in their lives.


Wayne Culpepper celebrated his one-year anniversary of running his own photo and video production company, Wayne Wandering Productions. His business focuses on visual storytelling for business and brands. He recently spent a month in Argentina with fellow CofC alumnus, Michael Youngblood '07, producing videos for Michael's travel start-up,Unsettled(Ad)ventures. Wayne also competed on two seasons of American Ninja Warrior.


Timmons Pettigrew is the director of group operations for Edmund's Oast in Charleston.

Summer Pettigrew is an innovation coach with the Department of Innovation and Digital Learning at Charleston County School District.


Virginia Bell Flynn is an associate with the Richmond law firm, Troutman Sanders. She earned her law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law, and clerked for a Fairfax County district court judge in Virginia before joining the law firm.

Brandon Norwood and Jessica Forman '07 were married October 8, 2016 and live in Raleigh, NC. Jessica is an associate manager of investment management with Coleman Research, and Brandon is a registered financial services representative with New York Life Insurance Comapany and NYLIFE Securities LLC.

Victoria Jones married Benji Welch in 2013, and they are proud parents of Charlotte, born on June 28, 2016. The Welch family lives in Lake City, SC.


Michelle Mapp (MPA) was selected as one of Charleston Business Magazine's 50 Most Influential in January. Michelle is CEO of the South Carolina Community Loan Fund, an organization that helps individuals access capital to transform communities.


Morgan Freitag is co-founder of Rekroot, LLC, which provides companies with personalized comprehensive analysis of their recruitment and selection process to align with goals, values and objectives. The company is located in Chicago.

Jonathan Lane has joined McAngus Goudelock & Courie, a regional insurance defense firm in Charleston. Jonathan earned his law degree from Charleston School of Law and focuses on employment and appellate law.

Allison Kay married Michael McLaurin on December 12, 2014, in the Dominican Republic. Allison has been a medical device sales representative for the past seven years. She and Michael live in Raleigh, NC, with their goldendoodle, Oliver.

Emily Franklin married Christian Smith in 2015 and lives in Richmond, VA where Emily works from home as a travel consultant for Divine Destination Weddings and Honeymoons and Travel by Divine.


Trevor Baratko has been named managing editor of the Loudoun Times-Mirror and in Northern Virginia. Trevor is an award-winning reporter who is well known throughout the country for his coverage of politics, government, economic development, and the wine industry. He frequently serves as an anayst on D.C. news staions, and his work has been featured by Politico, The Washington Post, The Huffington Post and The Hill.

Jessica Bower has opened a new boutique near Nashville, TN called Steluta. The shop is stocked with clothing and accessory brands not readily available in the area. Jessie earned a master's degree in arts management from Carnegie Mellon and teaches arts management classes online.

Celeste DeVera is a bilingual teacher for Vamonos NOLA, a bilingual program that teaches Spanish to children aged three to ten in New Orleans. She is also an adjunct Spanish instructor at Delgado Community College and a Spanish instructor at Casa de Espana offering specialized classes for teachers with English learning students.

Beth Landy married Travis Hyman on April 18, 2015, and is an implementation analyst for Conway Medical Center in Conway, SC. Beth earned a masters in health administration from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2011.

Heather Gantt works for Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation as an AAP completions procurement specialist. She married Dave Schafer on October 23, 2010, and they live in Pooler, GA.

Sarah Straub earned her doctorate in education from the University of Houston in December. She is an AP Spanish instructor, athletic director, and study abroad coordinator at YES Prep Public Schools in Houston.


Seaton Brown has taken a new position at the College of Charleston as assistant director of parent giving and programs, and director of the Parent Advisory Council. Previously, Seaton worked in the Admissions Office.

Matt Casey and his wife, Carmen, are proud parents of Alejandro Bernard, born on May 27, 2016.

Andrew Fyfe and his wife, Casey, welcomed their daughter,Evie Fyfe, on November 11, 2016.

Chip Hinnant has joined the Charlotte law firm, Ted A. Greve and Associates. Chip will represent plaintiffs in matters involving catastrophic personal injuries, wrongful death, workers' compensation, and other legal matters. In 2016, The National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys named Chip one of the top ten personal injury attorneys under 40 in North Carolina.

Renee Mondore married Levi McCorvey on April 18, 2015. She and Levi live in Leland, NC, with their three children.

Kelsey Crenshaw Sauceda and her husband, Wilbert, are proud parents of Evie Sauceda, born on July 16, 2016.

Greg Smith recently earned his Ph.D in physics from Wake Forest University, and is now a visiting professor at the College of Charleston. His groundbreaking research in FIPEL lighting technology has been featured on news outlets including: BBC,, The Engineer, and Science Codex.

Kelly Gayman married Ryan Wheeler on June 14, 2015. She earned her M.Ed. from Auburn University in kinesiology and exercise science, and is a certified athletic trainer. Kelly and Ryan live in Benton, LA.

Erica Scheldt married Captain Stephen Paul Wright, U.S. Army, in Charleston in 2012. They now reside in San Francisco, CA, where Erica works as a psychiatric social worker at Saint Francis Memorial Hospital.


Sarah Vining and Benjamin Crisafulli were married in September 2016 in Middleburg, VA. Sarah is an area director of marketing for Destination Hotels in Washington, DC.

Virginia Presher married Brandon Finn in June 2014, and is teaching kindergarten at Haynsworth Private School in Greenville, SC.


Emily Britton Coleman is director of partnerships with Tales of the Cocktail, celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. The festival has grown to become the world's premier cocktail festival and invites the international spirits industry to New Orleans for a week of seminars, tastings, and networking events.

Andrew Dean is studying real estate development at New York University, Schack Institute of Real Estate and expects to receive his master's degree in January 2018.

Caroline Sydow (MS) joined the Mount Pleasant-based accounting firm, Legare+Bailey+Hinske LLC, and will focus on individual and corporate tax planning, compliance, and consulting.


James Brock (MBA '16) joined Twin Rivers Capital, LLC in Charleston as an associate development manager.

Evvie Harmon is a yoga instructor in Easley, SC, and was the global co-coordinator for the Women's March on Washington.

Jedd McLuen is one of only two College of Charleston men's golfers in program history to receive a PING All-American Honorable Mention. He holds many college records including career scoring averages, career starts, and career rounds played. Jedd was inducted into the College of Charleston Athletics Hall of Fame in January.

Sean Monahan and Christine Chakides Monahan welcomed their son, Lincoln Ryker Monahan, on October 27, 2016.


Dustin Burick (MS) joined Jupiter Holdings LLC in Charleston as a senior accountant and staff assistant to the chief financial officer.

Cory Ciepiela recently completed his internship program at netGALAXY Studios in Charleston and is now a native app developer, creating custom iOS and Android apps for the company.


Charles von Lehe is chief technology officer at netGALAXY Studios in Charleston. He is responsible for managing and overseeing a team of developers and designers to ensure projects reach the enterprise-level standard of the company. Charles began working for netGALAXY Studios as an intern.

Christina Zapolski won the title of Miss SC on November 21, 2013, and went on to compete in the Miss USA Pageant in 2014, finishing in the top ten. Christina will compete on CBS's new competition series Hunted, with her fiance, Matt Sundberg '12. Matt is a leasing agent for WRS Inc. in Charleston.


Canyon Barry is taking graduate-level classes in radiation detections and nuclear materials at the University of Florida with the goal of earning a master's degree in nuclear engineering. In his spare time, Canyon does research on neutron multiplicity using helium for detectors, and plays basketball for the Gators.
