July 2017


Arlinda Locklear received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the College of Charleston Honors College and delivered the Honors College commencement address in May. Arlinda is an attorney in Washington, D.C. and specializes in Native American rights.


Lori Wilkerson Claussen was elected to her first term as Vice President of East Cooper Top Producers Club (ECTP). She has been a member of ECTP since 2006 and has earned numerous awards and recognitions. She is a Sales Associate with Golden Bear Realty International in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Elizabeth Colbert-Busch was chosen as one of “2017's Favorite Moms” in Mount Pleasant Magazine. Elizabeth was nominated by her daughter, Catherine Legare Wilhoit '07.


Philip Anderson is financial controller at NATO Support and Procurement Agency, headquartered in Luxembourg.

Dow Sanderson retired as rector of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion in Charleston on June 18, 2017 after a tenure of 16 years. In July 2017, he will begin his new duties as Priest-in-Charge of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Summerville, SC.


Patsy Secrist Davis was recently promoted to Associate Director of Campus Recreation at Augusta University in Augusta, GA. Patsy supervises 20 student employees and two graduate assistants, and manages a 43,000 square-foot recreation center, student wellness initiatives, group fitness, personal training programs, and an outdoor recreation program. She creates focused learning outcomes to enhance student development in the areas of diversity, resiliency, and professional development.


Steven Arsenault has returned to practicing law in Columbia, SC, and is focused on estate planning, individuals and businesses, business transactions, and tax planning.


Steve Swanson was selected as one of Charleston Business Magazine's 50 Most Influential in January. He serves as the Inside Director of Operations and strategy at SnapCap. He was formerly the Co-founder, President, and CEO of Automated Trading Desk, and co-chaired the College's BOUNDLESS Campaign.


Brian Freese is Administrative Manager at the University of Georgia's Carl Vinson Institute of Government. Brian graduated with his M.P.A. in public finance from Mississippi State University in 1995.

Phil Sykes has joined The Cassina Group as a Realtor in the downtown Charleston office. Phil has close to twenty years of experience in the real estate business and consistently ranks among the top 5% of all Realtors in Charleston. He earned his M.B.A. from The Citadel.


Jeffrey Shields is an Executive Director in Global Operations Management for INC Research, a bio-pharmaceutical development consulting and contract firm, headquartered in Raleigh, NC. He and his wife, Cynthia, have two sons, Tradd and Cole.


Ben Evans is Vice President of Federal Affairs and Communications at The Alliance to Save Energy in Washington, DC.

Tripp Guin is Broker in Charge and a managing member of TRIPP Commercial, LLC located in Charlotte, NC, The commercial real estate firm, which only represents tenants, recently celebrated its fifth anniversary and has four brokers. Tripp also serves on the board of directors of Corenet Global-Carolinas Chapter, the Jazz Arts Initiative and Festival in the Park.


CC Dennis Davis is a Health and Fitness Coach and Owner of Soul Shine Mom located in Mount Pleasant, SC. CC began the business in September of 2015.

David Foster is Owner of Intelliturf of Charleston, a synthetic grass installation and distribution company. He and his wife, Brandy, have two children.


Kenneth Crehan is Co-owner and law partner at Crehan & Thumann, LLC in Cincinnati, OH. Kenneth earned his juris doctor from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law in 2001, specializing in litigation. He and his wife, Kelli, have four children.

DaNine Jenkins Fleming (M.Ed.) of Summerville, SC, completed Leadership South Carolina 2017. DaNine is an Associate Professor and Director of Training and Intercultural Education at the Medical University of South Carolina. She earned her Ed.D from Youngstown State University in 2007.

Michael Glasgow recently celebrated 19 years as Minister of Music at North Raleigh United Methodist Church. Michael has also published over 50 pieces of music, has served as a conductor for more than one hundred events throughout the United States and abroad, and this year marks his tenth season as the conductor of the Tar River Community Chorus, in Rocky Mount, NC, and his 15th season as bass section leader of the North Carolina Master Chorale. On his 40th birthday in June, he conducted the New York premiere of his Requiem at Carnegie Hall with the New England Symphonic Ensemble and a massed chorus of 130 singers.


Kelly Golden received the Key to the City of Charleston on June 1, 2017 for her tireless efforts in bringing pertinent information to her community and providing resources to listeners in times of need. Kelly is a 20-year news talk radio veteran with iHeartMedia Charleston news radio 94.3. She has also received two Edward R. Murrow awards and a Marconi Award for her morning radio show.


Clay Ross was the 2017 recipient of the Alumni Award of Achievement from the College's School of the Arts. Clay is an accomplished musician who has released five albums in a range of styles. He moved to New York in 2002, where he joined Cyro Baptista's world renowned percussion ensemble. In 2006, the United States named him a Jazz Ambassador, and in that capacity Clay has performed and taught in a wide range of countries, including Macedonia, Greece, Turkey, Senegal, Cote D'Ivoire, Ghana, Cameroon and Brazil.


Becca Anderson is an original cast member in the play, “Five Lesbians Eating a Quiche”, and performed at the 2017 Piccolo Spoleto festival in Charleston. Becca is a Legal Administrator for Maybank & Owings, LLC in Charleston.

Justin Craig was selected as one of Mount Pleasant Magazine's “Favorite Dads for 2017”. Justin was nominated by his wife, Amber. They have two young daughters and live in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Matt Reeves and his family are moving back to the United States after living 16 years abroad. Matt and his wife, Claire, have two sons, Maddox and Asher, and a daughter, Freya. The family will live in Peoria, IL.

Amy Trodglen Southerland is the Tourism and Special Events Manager for the City of Charleston.


Becca Ansert Ehemann and husband, Eric, are proud parents of Adeline Morrissey, born on January 31, 2017. Becca is the Public Art Coordinator for the City of West Hollywood, CA. She earned a master's degree in public art studies from the University of Southern California.

Candra Allen Erickson was appointed by the Florida Supreme Court in October 2016 to a three-year term on the State of Florida Court Interpreter Certification and Regulation Board. Candra and husband, Benjamin, are proud parents of Alma Aurelia Erickson, born on March 27, 2016, and three-year-old big sister, Lumii Amada Erickson.

Camille Lowman played the role of Vern in the play, “Five Lesbians Eating a Quiche”, at the 2017 Piccolo Spoleto festival in Charleston. Cam is a Pure Core ensemble member and a Theatre 99 regular in Charleston.


Brad Middleton joined AgentOwned Realty as a Realtor in the Mount Pleasant, SC office. Brad has 18 years of sales and marketing experience.


Evan Berry was awarded the Temporary Staff Employee of the Year Award from the College of Charleston's Staff Advisory Committee in June. Evan works at the Addlestone Library and provides computing support to all visitors.

Jonathan Brilliant's new site-specific art installation and exhibition, "Hickory Sticks", opened May 4, 2017 at the Hickory Museum of Art in North Carolina, and remains on view until September 9, 2017.

Paul Buck and Julie Stephens Buck '03 live in Denver, CO, with their two sons, Malakai (7) and Wyatt (3). Paul is Director of Western Operations for Encana Oil and Gas, and Julie is Director at the Montessori Children's House of Denver.


Lindsay Greenwood married Gary Barrier on October 15, 2016. Lindsay is a Real Estate Manager for CBRE in Raleigh, NC.

Kim Switaj Cassidy lives in Hoboken, NJ with her husband, Michael, and their two children, Courtney and Conor. Kim earned her M.A.T. in secondary science from New York University in 2004.

Alexandria Pellegrino Rogers is a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty in Charleston. She is part of the Charleston Holmes Team and focuses primarily on Charleston, West Ashley, James Island, and Johns Island.

Amanda Rynearson is a Physician Assistant at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Amanda earned a master's in biochemistry from the Mayo School of Health Sciences in 2008, and a master's in physician assistant studies from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 2014.

Sara Saksewski Windjue (M.S.) was recognized as Educator of the Year by Seventhwave, an energy consulting, education, and research firm based in Madison, WI. During her time with the Wisconsin K-12 Energy Education Program, Sara has increased energy literacy around the state while developing a framework for teaching renewable energy in building science concepts to teachers and students.


William Bennett was awarded the Young Alumnus Award from the College's School of the Arts. William has been a member of the Music Department's adjunct faculty since 2007, and he has both taught conducting and conducted the popular University Chorus. He has performed with the Taylor Festival Choir, which is in residence at the School of the Arts, and for which he has served as Assistant Conductor. In 2015 the Grammy Foundation named William as one of ten finalists for the 2015 Music Educator Award.

Amanda Kirkpatrick DeWeese and husband, David, are proud parents of Nolen Elliott DeWeese, born on August 24, 2016. Amanda is an Account Supervisor at Chernoff Newman in Charlotte, NC.

Joe Hainline and wife, Emily, welcomed their second daughter, Stacy on August 1, 2016. Their older daughter, Eisley was born in 2013. Joe is an Attorney for the United States Department of Transportation: Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Administration in Washington, DC.

Michelle Quaranto Kramer was inducted into the honors organization of Junior Chamber International, and received her senatorship. Michelle is a Project Specialist at Palmetto GBA, and lives in Mount Pleasant with her husband, Glen, and sons, Shawn and Noah.

Evan Linder's play, “Five Lesbians Eating a Quiche”, co-written with Andrew Hobgood, was performed at Charleston's 2017 Piccolo Spoleto festival. Evan is a Co-founder of New Colony Theatre in Chicago where he works as a playwright, actor, and director.

Andrea McGinn is an original cast member in the play, “Five Lesbians Eating a Quiche”, which was performed at the 2017 Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston.

Lina Miraziz owns a dental practice in Spartanburg, SC, and served as president of the Spartanburg County Dental Society from 2016-2017. Lina graduated from the University of Maryland with her D.D.S. in 2009. She and her husband, David Jung, have two children: Gabrielle and Patrick.

Lindsay Shay Nixon is CEO of Happy Herbivore, Inc., a healthy eating company which facilitates positive lifestyle changes. She graduated from New England Law with a juris doctor in 2007, and lives in California with her husband, Scott.


Ben Black and Katie Moore '10 were married on November 12, 2016. Katie is the Client Service Director at Skyview Networks in Scottsdale, AZ.

Addie Fenner earned her Master’s in Fine Arts in production design for film and television at the American Film Institute Conservatory in Los Angeles, CA, in June.


Kyle Kavanagh is a bartender for The Barrel on James Island, and for St. James Gate on Folly Beach, SC.

Lisa Decker Roy was awarded the Award for Philanthropy from the College's School of the Arts. Lisa has made a major commitment to the both the School of the Arts and its Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art. Her generosity has endowed funding that will continue to benefit the students, faculty, and friends of the School for years to come.

Erica Zakrzewski is the Corporate Compliance Manager at Total Beverage Solution, located in Mount Pleasant, SC.


Will Bebeeand Kristin Rikard Bebee '10 welcomed their third son, Griffin Lyn Bebee, on February 16, 2017. Griffin joins big brothers, William Thomas Bebee III and Everett Rikard Bebee. Will is an E-commerce Manager at Pure Fishing in Columbia, SC.

Kati-Jane Hammet Childs earned her Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from the University of Alabama in May 2017.

Eliot Dudik was awarded the Young Alumnus Award from the College's School of the Arts. Eliot teaches at the College of William and Mary, where he established the photography program and directs the Andrews Gallery. Eliot's photographs have appeared in group and solo exhibitions in venues such as the Columbia Museum of Art in Columbia, South Carolina; the Staniar Gallery at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia; Davis Gallery at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida; and the New Orleans Photo Alliance.

Kristin Robinson Goulet and husband, Jeffery, are proud parents of Georgina Wallace Goulet, born on February 28, 2017. Kristin is the Director of Human Resources for Island Realty on Isle of Palms, SC.

Whitney Field Pulsifer is Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives at Peabody Properties Inc., a full-service real estate firm that manages more than 11,000 housing units, primarily in New England. She chairs the NextGen Committee of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board's Rental Housing Association and serves on their Board of Directors.


Annie Butler recently completed nursing school at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and will begin working as a postpartum nurse this summer. She will also be involved in education and advocacy focused on access to safe healthcare for LGBTQ-identifying people.

Lindsey Sikes Voorhees is a Professor of Practice and Resident Costume designer at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY. Lindsey graduated with her Master of Fine Arts from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in 2011.

Lauren Wegmann Walker is a Senior Development Officer for Major Gifts at Tulane University in New Orleans. She earned her M.B.A. from Tulane in May 2016.


Eva Elmer of Savannah, GA, was named one of six 2017 Inspiring Mothers of Georgia award recipients by the Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies coalition. Inspired by her son, Stephen, who has both cerebral palsy and cortical visual impairment, Eva works as the Campaign Manager for the Coastal Campaign for Healthy Kids, an initiative to reduce the number of uninsured children and teens.

Anjuri Jainis the Finance Reporting Manager for Walmart Global eCommerce, headquartered in San Bruno, CA.


Joseph Brown earned his Juris Doctor from the Charleston School of Law in May 2017.

Caroline Eubanks is a freelance writer and content creator in Atlanta, GA. This year, she's worked for Explore Georgia, the state's tourism body, creating content for the Year of Film website to encourage film tourism within the state.

Alex Jackson (M.A. '14) won first place honors in the Community Service/Volunteer category of the Employee of the Year competition sponsored by the Greater Charleston Federal Executive Association. Alex has been a writer and member of SPAWAR (Space and Naval Warfare Command) Systems Center Atlantic Public Affairs Office since 2010.

Robbin Watson Mangano launched R Public Relations (RPR), a full-service digital marketing, social media, and public relations firm. Located in Boston, MA, the agency currently works with a variety of clients in the health and wellness, hospitality, celebrity, and beauty industry.


Cristy Jamison and Creighton Armstrong '09 were married on May 6, 2017 in Rye, NY. The couple met in 2007 on the College's sailing team. They live in downtown Charleston.

Rachael Cechak Arora graduated from the Charleston School of Law in December 2016, and is an Assistant Public Defender with the Charleston County Public Defender's Office.

Sean Bath (M.S., M.P.A. '15) completed the 2017 John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship, and now works with CollabraLink Technologies on a government contract in support of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Climate Program Office.

Bradley Bonville earned his Juris Doctor from the Charleston School of Law in May 2017.

Francis Saladin is Operations Manager at Clark & Associates, Inc. in North Charleston, SC. He and his wife, Shannon, have two daughters, Isabelle and Elena.

Boyd Stough graduated from the Charleston School of Law in December 2016. He is the Owner of Espy Revenue, a revenue consultancy firm specializing in consumer psychology, market data analysis, communication, and revenue systems.

Emily Trogdon has joined The Brandon Agency in Charleston as a Public Relations Manager.


Necco Ceresani appeared in the premier of FOX's MasterChef with Gordon Ramsay on May 31. Necco is one of three alumni creators of the Tender food app. He is also the Community Marketing Manager at XebiaLabs in the greater Boston area.

Courtney Gerstenmaier (M.S. '15) is an Education Interpreter at the South Carolina Aquarium, and is also an Adjunct Professor at the College. Courtney married Hill Felton '11 on June 24, 2017, and lives in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Tyler Gilliam was a presidential scholar and graduated summa cum laude from the Charleston School of Law in May 2017.

Aylett Clesi and Matt Mazzarell '13 were married on April 1, 2017, and live in New Orleans, LA. Aylett is a Geologist with Environmental Resources Management, and Matt is a Data Scientist with Teradata.

Sarah Miller opened her contemporary art gallery, located on East Bay Street in Charleston on June 16, 2017. The gallery focuses on early and mid-career, contemporary artists. Sculpture, drawings, and mixed media artwork will be featured the 1,500 square-foot space.

Caroline Newman earned her M.D. from the University of North Carolina’s School of Medicine in May. She is beginning a pediatric residency at the University of North Carolina Hospital.

Alexis Kocher Reynolds graduated from the University of South Carolina’s School of Law in May 2017. Alexis is an Administrative Assistant and law clerk for the Honorable John C. Few at the South Carolina Supreme Court.

Peter Ruegner graduated from the Charleston School of Law in May 2017.

Martin Summer has been promoted at SIB FIxed Cost Reduction to Validations and Reporting Team Manager. Martin earned his master's degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from the Citadel.


Morgan Mikolajczyk Insley is an attorney with Blanco Tackabery & Matamoros, P.A. in Mooresville, NC. She has also passed the South Carolina Bar Exam and was sworn in on May 22, 2017.

Autumn Martin graduated from the Charleston School of Law in May 2017.

McKinnon Shisko was selected as one of The Electrical Distributor Magazine's 2016 “30 Under 35”. McKinnon is general manager at OneSource Distributors in San Diego, CA.

Sukhpreet Singh graduated from the Charleston School of Law in May 2017. He is a Law Clerk at the Gruenloh Law Firm in Charleston.


Hunter Adams earned his Juris Doctor from American University's Washington College of Law in May 2017.

Gregory Karel is a Firefighter and EMT for Bethesda Chevy Chase Rescue Squad in Bethesda, MD.

Steven Kramer has been living in Spain while teaching English through the Spanish government and is returning to the United States to study linguistics at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He expects to graduate in 2019.

Kevin Phillips graduated from the Charleston School of Law in May 2017.

Norman Schwartz is an Account Executive for Uber Freight, headquartered in San Francisco, CA.

Andrew Smith was a presidential scholar and graduated summa cum laude from the Charleston School of Law in May 2017.


Derek Novo graduated with a master's degree in computer science from Columbia University in May 2017. Derek is a Computer Scientist for Adobe Systems, Inc. in San Jose, CA.


Thomas Aggeles was promoted to Operations Manager of US operations at IDEA, LLC, a global solutions company which provides inventory management, warehousing, shipping, fulfillment and distribution for both international and domestic clients. The President and CEO of the company is CofC alumnus, Tom DeMuth '89.

Isaac Gould has an internship at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, CO.

Rebekah Crawford Grant has been promoted to Operations Manager at Patrick Properties Hospitality Group in Charleston.

Aubrey O'Brien works in student services at the Upstate Area Health Education Center in Greenville, SC. Aubrey will be earning her J.D. from the University of South Carolina’s School of Law, and expects to graduate in 2020.

Fletcher Thompson has joined Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage as a Real Estate Agent in North Charleston.

Madeline Jane Welch was selected in March as a 2017-2018 Fulbright finalist and left at the end of June to travel to India for nine months as a Fulbright English teaching assistant. Previously, Madeline worked at the International Affairs Department of American Federation of Teachers, which promotes human and workers' rights.

Shannon Wischusen is lead teacher at the Children's Aid Society, Teach for America in New York, City. She is also working on her M.Ed., specializing in early childhood education and early childhood special education at Hunter College. She expects to graduate in 2018.


Mara Argyriou is a doctoral student at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and expects to graduate in 2020.

Christian Jablonski is an Account Executive for ticket sales for the Sacremento Kings in Sacramento, CA.

Caleb Melton is studying for his M.Div. at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC, and expects to graduate in 2021.

Julia Slook is an Associate Consultant for Utegration, LLC, a full service SAP consulting company focused on the utilities industry. Julia lives in Houston, TX.
