May 2020

1970

Dr. Noel Fuller is an Endodontist at Apex Dental PA in Rock Hill, SC. Dr. Fuller earned his DMD at the College of Dental Medicine at MUSC and his Endodontic Certificate from Ohio State University School of Dentistry. Dr. Fuller and his wife, Pam, have two children, Samuel and Michael. He wrote the book Miracles Can Be Yours which was self-published in 2017.

1975

Linda Poland Gilbertson is Vice President of Grants Administration at Affinity Consulting Group NEFL, LLC, focusing on grant administration, proposal development, and strategic planning for non-profits and government agents. Ms. Gilbertson has been living on Maui, HI, since 2012.

1981

Cheryll Novak Woods-Flowers (MS ’99) was featured in The Post and Courier’s profile of 25 women who have had a meaningful impact on Charleston as the city approaches its 350th anniversary. Ms. Woods-Flowers was the first female mayor of Mount Pleasant, SC, from 1992-1997. She is a Real Estate Consultant for Coldwell Banker Realty and lives in Mount Pleasant.

1982

John Zemp, Jr. is a Security Analyst for the SC Department of Administration in their Division of Information Security. He married Pamela Free Zemp on May 23, 2015. Mr. Zemp lives in Columbia, SC, and has three sons, John W. III, Joseph L. , and William T.

1985

Dan Streuber received the Cisco Pioneer Award as part of the team with the most significant engineering achievement. Mr. Streuber is a Cybersecurity Sales Engineer for Cisco Systems. Most recently, he has been working with a large service provider customer on COVID-19 initiatives related to working from home, telehealth, and mobile field hospitals. He lives in Lawrenceville, GA, with his wife, Leah, and their two sons, Andrew and Benton.

1986

Chuck Spell is a Supervisory Information Technology Specialist for the US Department of the Treasury in Charlotte, NC. Mr. Spell earned his MS in computer science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1994. He served as the Acting Branch Chief for the Business Compliance Management Systems Branch during 2020, managing four major projects and 42 IT employees and managers. Mr. Spell says he enjoyed guiding IT projects through the COVID-19 pandemic to send stimulus checks and rebates to taxpayers and employers.

1988

Peter Kouten is an Assistant Judge for the Charleston County Probate Court. He and his wife, Callie, live on John’s Island, SC, and have three children, Peter Jr., John, and Madeline.

Kristi Ryba, of Charleston, SC, was selected by a national panel of jurors as recipient of a 2020 South Arts State Fellowship. Ms. Ryba specializes in handmade egg tempera painting with subjects that explore contemporary events and messages of morality. She won 2nd place in the esteemed annual visual arts competition ArtFields in 2018. Her work can be found at Corrigan Gallery in Charleston, SC.

1989

Teresa Williamson is a self-employed Music Teacher. She earned her MAT in elementary education from Concordia University this spring and resides in Scappoose, OR, with her husband, Richard.

1991

Michelle Eleazer Smith (MS ’92) is the Executive Director, Institutional Research at CofC. Ms. Smith holds two national bowling titles and is in the Charleston and State of South Carolina Bowling Halls of Fame. In 2013, she received the Alex Sanders Award for Outstanding Public Service. Ms. Smith lives in Summerville, SC, with her husband, Robert.

1992

Chris Martin is the Senior Director of Marketing and Revenue Management for Universal Parks and Resorts in Orlando, FL. Mr. Martin has worked for Universal Orlando Resorts for over 21 years. He earned his MBA from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College in 1999. Mr. Martin has two children, Treseder and Isabella.

Russ Smith is a Senior Staff Software Engineer for Lockheed Martin. He lives in Langhorne, PA, with his wife, Marlene.

Bill Welch was promoted to Senior Manager of Global Infrastructure for Fanatics, Inc., where he manages a technical infrastructure team with staff in the US and UK, that supports their global technology stack. He resides in Jacksonville, FL, with his wife, Monica.

1994

Nicole Taglianetti Chambers is a Corporate Account Director for AmerisourceBergen (ION Solutions). Ms. Chambers is one of 100 associates (out of 20,000 employees) to receive the Pursuit of Purpose Award. This award is given annually to associates that exemplify the purpose and guiding principles, are a role model to others, and make outstanding contributions to the company over the past year. Ms. Chambers resides in West Long Branch, NJ, with her three children, Chase, Hudson, and Chloe.

1996

Sue Mills Campbell is a Realtor and Broker Associate for Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in North Charleston, SC.

1997

Rosanne Mitev Dates is the Grants Coordinator for the City of Conway in South Carolina. She lives in Myrtle Beach with her husband, Anthony, and has two children, Lauren and Jay.

1999

Major Charles Levine (MS) is an Assistant Professor at the US Military Academy for the US Army. He is working towards his PhD in network science at Northeastern University with plans to graduate in 2021. Major Levine resides in West Point, NY, with his wife, Ginger.

2000

Josh Keller is a Senior Systems Analyst at Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, CA.

Curtis Scott is the Assistant Director, Office of Small Business Programs for the US Army. He and his wife, Amanda Whitehurst Scott ’05, live in Hope Mills, NC, with their two children, Genevieve and Matthew.

Kate Simson is the State Office Representative and Political Director for US Senator Susan Collins. Ms. Simson resides in Portland, ME, with her daughter, Sayre, and her son, Wyatt.

Dyan Whitlow Underhill is the Director, Proposal & Grant Services for Pearson Education. Ms. Underhill received the Commander’s Public Service Award from the Department of the Air Force in 2017 in recognition of her distinguished performance as President, Minot Air Force Base School Board District #160, North Dakota, from 2014 – 2017. She resides in Sellersville, PA, with her husband, LTC Derek C. Underhill, and their two children, Davis and Mae.

2001

John Flack has relocated to Charlotte, NC, where he is the CFO for Mills Automotive Group.

Allen Graham is a Clinical Research Coordinator III at the Emory University School of Medicine. Ms. Graham is starting investigatory trials to identify possible antibodies for COVID-19 using Centers for Disease Control field staff. She resides in Scottdale, GA, with her husband, Lance Elias.

Paul Niell is an Associate Professor at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL. Dr. Niell earned his MA in art history from the University of South Carolina in 2003, and his PhD in art history from the University of New Mexico in 2008.

Shana Thomas-Thornton is the Public Information Officer for the City of Stockbridge, Georgia. She was recently named to the Board of Directors for both Connecting Henry and S.O.A.R. She resides in Stockbridge, GA, with her husband, Treandos.

2002

Lauren Ray Burn and David Burn ’00 announce the birth of their first child, Hazel Gray, born on October 31, 2019. Mr. Burn is an Architect with LS3P. They reside in Charlotte, NC.

2003

Megan Sones is the Clinical Director of Mindful Therapy in Ridgeland, MS. In 2006, she earned her MA in clinical counseling from The Citadel. Ms. Sones resides in Jackson, MS, with her husband, Marty Clapton.

2005

Karen Lyle is a School Counselor at the Charleston County School of the Arts in North Charleston, SC. She earned her MEd in school counseling from The Citadel in 2012.

NyThea Campbell Tolbert is the Pre-Health Advisory and Clinical Educator for Spelman College in Atlanta. Ms. Tolbert earned her MPH from the Morehouse School of Medicine in 2009, and her PhD in educational leadership from Mercer University in March 2020. She and her husband, Benjamin, have two sons and a daughter.

2006

Eunice Gloster-Pou is a Teacher for H.B. Rhame Elementary School in Richland One School District. She earned her EdS in administrator leadership and her MS in curriculum and instruction from Walden University. Ms. Gloster-Pou was recognized as a National Board-Certified Teacher in 2019. She married Darryl Pou on November 12, 2016. The couple resides in Columbia, SC.

Jillian Irizarry married Matthew Pappalardo on July 13, 2019, in upstate New York. Ms. Irizarry works for Pegasystems where she was promoted to Director for her regional sales team after spending three years as a founding member of their Latin American business unit. She earned her MS in information and knowledge management from Columbia University in 2014. The couple resides in Whitestone, NY.

2007

Jenny Stevens Moser is a Managing Partner of The Stevens Firm, P.A. located in Spartanburg, SC. She was named a SuperLawyers Rising Star in 2019 and 2020 in the field of Family Law. Ms. Moser was elected to serve a three-year term on the Board of the Hub City Writer’s Project, a non-profit organization which promotes literacy and the literary arts in Spartanburg. She and her husband, Benjamin, have six children, and one grandchild.

2008

Ashley White Atkinson completed her Dietetic Internship at Children’s Hospital Colorado and University of Colorado School of Medicine in 2019, focusing in adult acute care. Ms. Atkinson now works at UCHealth as a Clinical Dietitian in the Solid Organ Transplant department. She and her husband, David, reside in Denver, CO.

Shaina Hooker received the Outstanding Junior Award from the Eliza Lucas Pinckney Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Ms. Hooker is a 5th and 6th grade English Teacher at Mason Preparatory School in Charleston, SC.

Rachael Nemeth is the Co-Founder and CEO of ESL Works, a team of service industry veterans and technologists who provide work-based training via text message for frontline workers whose native language is not English. ESL Works has partnered with StopCovid.co to push out coronavirus-related training to its existing customers along the food supply chain. Ms. Nemeth is a 15-year food industry veteran in New York City, where she began teaching English to food industry employees 10 years ago as a volunteer. Her mission is to develop better, more accessible communication tools for everyone in the industry.

Joseph Newberry is a Safety Manager for Centura Health. He resides in Denver, CO, with his wife, Sinai, and their two children, Nolan and Canela.

Mike Patterson is a Senior Project Manager for Trellis, a web design agency in Malden, MA.

Lauren Wegmann Walker is the Director of Major Gifts and Capital Campaign at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans. She and her husband, Alston, welcomed their first son, Alston Walker, Jr., on October 25, 2018.

2009

Alissa Guterman was recently named Editor of Upstate Dog Magazine, published in Greenville, SC.

Alison Mays is a Product Manager for NBCUniversal Media in New York City.

Ruby Godley married Matt McChesney on March 12, 2016, and they welcomed their first daughter, Naomi, on October 1, 2018. Ms. Godley earned her MA in human services counseling from Liberty University in 2018. She is a Sexual Assault Response Coordinator for the US Department of the Navy. In 2018, Ms. Godley was the Department of Defense Exceptional Sexual Assault Response Coordinator of the Year. The McChesney family resides in Charleston, SC.

Katie Johnson Miller is a Senior Product Operations Manager for Capital One. She and her husband, Steven, welcomed their first child, Henry Miller, on October 15, 2019. The Miller family resides in New York, NY.

2010

Tori Kaminski is a Customer Solutions Technician for Benefitfocus in Charleston, SC. On November 28, 2013, Ms. Kaminski welcomed her son, Harper James.

2011

Jackie Greenberg is a Key Account Manager for Michelin North America. Ms. Greenberg earned her MS in leadership and management from Southern Wesleyan University in 2018. She resides in Dallas, TX.

Bobby Heard is a Senior Country Specialist for Audley Travel, located in Boston, MA.

Amberjade Taylor is the Public Relations and Marketing Manager for Cushman Concepts. She lives in New York City with her son, Damon Kyap Tsering.

2012

Pauly Appleton (MPA) earned his JD from UIC John Marshall Law School in December 2019, and resides in Chicago.

Pate Clarson has been promoted to Director of Integrated Marketing at Billy Casper Golf’s Buffalo Agency in Washington, D.C. Mr. Clarson earned his MBA from the University of Florida in 2016.

Sabra Berger Jewell is a Development Officer at Western Oregon University where she is responsible for raising major gifts of $25,000 and above. She earned her MPA in non-profit management from the University of Colorado, Denver in 2018. Ms. Jewell and her husband live in Independence, OR.

Tori Mullin has recently moved from Philadelphia to Charleston, SC, where she is a Design Account Executive for Sherwin-Williams.

Jesica Trucks is a Research Associate at Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. Dr. Trucks earned her PhD in physics, with a concentration in astrophysics, from the University of Toledo in 2019.

Brad Woods is a Senior Software Engineer for QuadPay in New York City.

2013

Anthony Holloman is an Area Coordinator for William Peace University in Raleigh, NC. He earned his MEd from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2018.

Andy Holloway married Ashley Ritter on November 9, 2019, at The Barn at 400 Saint Andrews in Greenville, NC. The Holloway family resides in Winterville, NC.

Whitney Dilliard is a Quality Manager for Originate, a concept-to-growth acceleration partner for digital products. She earned her MS in informatics from the University of Maryland Global Campus in 2018. Ms. Dilliard married David Sanborn on April 29, 2017, at White Point Garden in Charleston, SC. The couple resides in North Charleston, SC.

2014

Misha Eady-Harbold has been inducted into Phi Kappa Phi at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society.

2015

Courteney Barnes-Anderson will be graduating in May with her JD from the Lincoln Memorial University Duncan School of Law. On April 6, 2013, she married Dondricus Anderson, and on May 18, 2014, they welcomed their first son, Eli N. Anderson. The Barnes-Anderson family resides in Bristol, VA.

Tanner Clay is an Inside Sales Representative for PhishLabs in Charleston, SC.

Rebekah Brown Sellers married James Sellers on April 14, 2019, at the Fred W. Symmes Chapel in Cleveland, SC. She earned her MAT in secondary education from Liberty University in December 2019. The Sellers reside in Loris, SC.

Matt Sutton is a Legal Assistant for Stavros and Kelly in Austin, TX.

2016

Evan Alexander is a Content Strategist for Lowe’s in Mooresville, NC.

Christian Williams married Justin Amidon on November 30, 2019, at The Lace House in Columbia, SC. The couple now resides in Cartersville, GA.

Victoria Bauer is a Territory Business Manager for Octapharma, USA and resides in Santa Clarita, CA.

Jayson Blankenship earned his MS in Management from the University of Florida. He resides in Tampa, FL.

Alice McDermott is graduating Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts School of Law in Dartmouth, MA, where she held a TA position for Contracts I and II.

Leo Pate III is an Application Security Consultant for nVisium, a privately held security application company headquartered in Arlington, VA.

2017

Kate Boyle is a Communications Specialist for Warby Parker and lives in New York City.

Marina Conner is a Fee Program Manager for the National Park Service. She is currently studying disaster preparedness and emergency management at Arkansas State University with plans to graduate with her MS this spring.

Caroline Coyle is a Digital Associate for Golin, a public relations agency located in Atlanta.

Marissa Elliott is an Event Planning Manager at Wild Dunes Resort on Isle of Palms, SC.

Kiana Olmstead is a Junior Account Manager for Core Home, a housewares brand, and lives in New York City.

2018

Jonathan Graham is studying law at the University of Florida with plans to graduate with his JD in 2022. He resides in Gainesville, FL, with his wife, Olivia, and their two children, Augustine and Alasdair. Mr. Graham was awarded the CALI Book Award in Legal Writing from the Fredric G. Levin College of Law.

Austin Hopcia is graduating from The Citadel in May 2020 with his MBA. He is the Assistant Director of Business and Compliance at The Citadel in Charleston, SC.

Mac Kindel works in the Special Warfare unit of the US Air Force and resides in Olympic Valley, CA.

Randi Smith is the Community Engagement Coordinator for Veterans Bridge Home in Charlotte, NC.

2019

Sarah Bauerlin is a Bookkeeper for Hawkes Learning Systems and resides in North Charleston, SC.

Katherine Call is a Program Assistant for the State of South Carolina, Department of Administration. She resides in Chapin, SC.

Carlie Christenson is the CEO of Boob-eez, a fashion-fix accessories line purposed to make life easier for all women. This year Ms. Christenson was recognized as one of the Women Empowered by Jacksonville Magazine. She resides in Neptune Beach, FL.

Kari Craig is a Marketing Assistant for Lehigh Mining and Navigation in Allentown, PA.

Moira Devlin is a Teacher for Central Bucks School District in Doylestown, PA.

Liana Gainsboro is a Marketing Research Assistant for Edge Research in Washington, DC.

Kristen Larsen is the RDC Operations Coordinator for Electrolux in Charlotte, NC.

Dylan McLane is an ArcGIS Analyst for Esri, the global marketing leader in GIS mapping, in Redlands, CA.

Billie Powell is an Account Coordinator for Regan Communications Group in New York City.
