November 2017


Ida Spitz Swindell (M.Ed. '92), of Charleston, SC, is a master certified DSS Trainer for the state of South Carolina. She has also authored Hear His Voice, an inspirational book of healing for the mind, soul, and body from prophetic intercession.


Otto German has been promoted to Associate Athletics Director for compliance at the College of Charleston. Mr. German has served the College for 44 years, and is president of the College's Black Alumni Council.


George Donald is a Hospital Interpreter at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA. He studied translation and interpreting at the Monterey Institute, and vocal performance at Hartnell College. Two recent highlights in his life are the birth of his granddaughter, Aya, and a medical mission trip to Guatemala that included a hike up Pacaya Volcano.

Belinda Revel-Addis retired from the IRS in January 2017, receiving a letter of thanks from President Barack Obama, the Albert Gallatin Award from the Secretary of the Treasury for meritorious service for 38.5 years, and a plaque from the Commissioner of the IRS. She began her college studies as a cooperative education student at the College of Charleston.


Lisa Bollinger Burbage is a Health and Wellness Coach, and Founder of Wellness Beyond Fifty in Charleston. She recently passed her National Board exam, a designation which only 6% of the 14,060 coaches in North America earn.

Renee Buyck Romberger represented the College of Charleston at the University of South Carolina Upstate's presidential inauguration in October. Mrs. Romberger is Vice President for Community Health Policy and Strategy at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, and serves as Secretary of the College of Charleston Board of Trustees.


Kevin Deininger is an Office Automation and CTS manager at Job Corps in North Charleston, SC. His grandson, Ryland Busbin, was born on August 30, 2016.


Sarah Elkins is a Configuration Management Advisor at CSRA, an information technology company in Rockville, MD. She was certified as an ITIL Expert in August 2017, and will present at the All Day DevOps Conference in October to 11,000 attendees.


Will Sherrod is a Commercial Real Estate Agent and Broker with Lee & Associates Charleston. He was presented a life membership in the honorary fraternity, Omega Tau Rho, at the South Carolina Association of Realtors convention this fall. This award recognizes exemplary dedication and service and is given by state and local Realtor associations. Mr. Sherrod also serves on the College's Cougar Club Board.


Marion Mann has joined Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County, SC, as Director of Marketing and Communications. Ms. Mann previously served in marketing roles at the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities, and Brains on Fire. She is also a graduate of Leadership Greenville.


Ann-Marie Mohr Sanderson, of Simpsonville, SC, is a development coach and instructor at Truth Be Told Art. She and her husband, Jonathan, have three children: Charles, Zachary and Emily Katherine.


Brett Alison and his wife, Leslie, are proud to announce the birth of their son, Dax Thomas Alison, born on September 26, 2017. Mr. Alison is vice president at JP Morgan Securities in Atlanta, GA.

Kelli Mason Brown has joined Carolina One Real Estate in the new Johns Island, SC center as a Realtor. Mrs. Brown brings more than 15 years of experience in real estate and business development.

Ingrid Hanna and her business partner recently launched Back After Baby, a comprehensive online program to assist moms recovering from pregnancy and childbirth. Ms. Hanna lives in Houston, TX.

Brunella Caldas Reid is Director of Marketing at the accounting firm of Moore Colson in Marietta, GA. Mrs. Reid graduated summa cum laude from The Citadel with a master's in business administration.


Vanessa Albury will exhibit her cyanotypes and photography-based sculptures in her first solo exhibit with Benrubi Gallery in New York City, opening November 30 and on view until January 20, 2018. She earned her MFA degree from New York University.

Katherine Donahue is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children's National Health System in Washington, D.C. Ms. Donahue, an osteosarcoma survivor who was diagnosed at the age of three, uses her first-hand experience in providing quality care to children while working to eliminate childhood cancer.

Taylor Houser Houser is the Advancement Director for Bayside Academy, a PK-12 independent school in Daphne, AL. She and her husband, Ross, recently welcomed their third child, William Carlisle. Carlisle joins big sister, Ruby Ana, and big brother, Jackson.

Michael Williams and Kenisha Rivers Williams '02, M.Ed. '07 recently became Owners of an International Minute Press Print and Advertising franchise in Charlotte, NC. Mrs. Williams continues to work in education as a School Administrator, and Mr. Williams is a Member of the Lake Norman Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce.


Bess Brockington Bluestein is an Upper School Learning Specialist at Porter-Gaud School in Charleston, SC. She earned her Ed.S and her M.A. in school psychology from The Citadel.

Amy Gordon and Joseph Shepanek '07 have recently relocated their family to Erdenheim, PA, where she grew up. They have two children: a son, Sawyer and a daughter, Hasell. Amy is Director of Annual Giving at Abington Friends School.

Dan Lotti is Lead Singer and Songwriter for Dangermuffin. The band headlined at the Vinegrass Music Festival in October at the Truro Vineyards of Cape Cod, MA.


Chris Gatto has joined William Means Real Estate in Charleston, SC, as an Agent. He has more than a dozen years of experience assisting buyers and sellers reach their real estate goals.


Robert Legare and his wife, Emily, are proud parents of Alice Wade Legare, born on September 18, 2017. The Legare family lives in Mount Pleasant, SC.


Christopher Beckham has joined Knowledge Capital Group, a boutique strategy and management consulting firm based in Charleston, SC, as Director of Healthcare Consulting. He earned master's degrees in healthcare administration and healthcare informatics from the University of Alabama in 2007 and is a healthcare strategy and alignment expert.

Chris Brown and his wife, Kate, announce the birth of their second child, Clara Katherine, born in October 2017. Mr. Brown is the Head Brewmaster and Owner of Holy City Brewing in Charleston, SC.

Brett Gardner was nominated for the 2017 Roberto Clemente Award for his involvement in community and charity efforts, most recently in supporting children's cancer studies. This is the second straight year the New York Yankees veteran outfielder has been nominated.

Alexis Fanelli Garlock and her husband, Travis, announce the birth of their second son, Bennet Garlock, on September 18, 2017. Bennet joins big brother, Carter. The family lives in Glen Allen, VA.

Grant Gimpel is editor-in-chief of What? No! video magazine on YouTube. Mr. Gimpel's show is akin to a variety television or sketch comedy show which he uses as a platform for his diverse range of creative endeavors.

Layton Ruffin has joined Moore & Van Allen as Senior Counsel with the corporate and health-care practices, based in the Charleston location. Previously, Mr. Ruffin was an attorney with the Graham Law Firm, PA in Florence, SC.


Meghan Duggan Chipley is now working as a Real Estate Agent at William Means Real Estate in Charleston, SC. She joined the company in 2010 and oversaw the marketing department. Meghan is married to Hunter Chipley '08, and they have two sons.

Joseph Garcia, Senior Associate Attorney at Buist Byars & Taylor LLC in Charleston, SC, has been selected to Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Charleston Class of 2018. Mr. Garcia earned his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2009.

Quan Gates was named the 2016-17 Teacher of the Year at Rivelon Elementary School in Orangeburg, SC.

Lindsey McMillan Grady and her husband, Christopher, are proud to announce the birth of their son, Lane Grady, on February 8, 2017. He joins big sister, Lilla. Mrs. Grady is an Insurance Agent for Grady and Graves Insurance Group, LLC. and lives in Sterling, VA.

Dan Mroz has been appointed Vice President of the Eastern South Carolina Region at PNC Corporate & Institutional Banking in Charleston, SC.


Lauren Hummer Nivens is Communications Manager at Drayton Hall in Charleston, SC. She received her master's degree in historic preservation from the University of Vermont.

Elizabeth Gibbes married Eric Robinson on May 19, 2017. Mrs. Robinson is Communications Manager at Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd in Columbia, SC.

Kate Tiller (M.P.A. '10) has been promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Academic Services at the College of Charleston. She also serves on the advisory board for the College's master of public administration program.


Talia Saghri married Collin Jewell on April 8, 2017. The couple lives in Murrells Inlet, SC.


Ryan East (M.Ed. '12) married Naomi Schwartz on October 22, 2017 on Johns Island, SC. Mr. East is a Textbook Editor in the education division of McGraw-Hill and works from home in Minneapolis.

Josh Langdon married Nick Nowacki on October 21, 2017, on Isle of Palms, SC. Josh is a Lawyer at Wood & Lamping in Cincinnati and earned his law degree from the University of Cincinnati. He focuses on lesbian, gay, transgender, and queer rights.


Dan Callahan passed the Level Three Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Examination in June 2017, and officially became a CFA Charterholder in August 2017. Mr. Callahan is Portfolio Manager at JBJ Investment Partners in Charleston, SC.

Athena DeAngelis, of West Deptford, NJ, is the Head Athletic Trainer at Highland High School. Mrs. DeAngelis earned her master's in sports medicine from the University of Delaware in 2013.

Barnwell Fishburne earned his J.D. from Charleston School of Law, and is a Litigation Associate with Luzuriaga Mims, LLP in Charleston, SC. He focuses his practice on construction defect, products liability, premises liability, personal injury, and general civil litigation.

Alissa Funk is a Copywriter at Barkley, an integrated marketing and ad agency, located in Kansas City, MO. Ms. Funk recently graduated from The Creative Circus, a creative portfolio school for careers in advertising, design, and digital mediums.

Margo Moskowitz married Benjamin Tilley on September 23, 2017. She is Assistant Production Manager at Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, GA.


Gabriel Brickle and Nikola Budisavljevic were united in marriage on October 14, 2017, in Columbia, SC. Mrs. Budisavljevic is a Front End Engineer at Launchpeer in Charleston.

Jamie Carr is a Literary Agent in New York City for William Morris Endeavor. She earned her M.F.A. in fiction from Portland State University in 2014.


Abby Frye is a Wedding Planner at A Charleston Bride, located on Rutledge Avenue in Charleston, SC.

Louise Smunk married Kenneth Holladay on September 30, 2017, in Kingstree, SC. Mrs. Holladay earned a B.S. in nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina, and is a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Nurse at McLeod Regional Medical Center. She is pursuing a doctorate as a family nurse practitioner from the University of South Carolina.

Julia Nygren Kraemer is a Middle School Math Teacher at The Gooden School in Sierra Madre, CA. Mrs. Kraemer has appeared on The Ellen Show several times, winning several contests, including a cash prize for her wedding in September 2016 to Bradley Kraemer.


Tyler Boone's recent single "Short Skirt, Bare Knees" is under the "For Your Consideration" rock category for the 2018 Grammys. The music video for the single takes place in Charleston, SC.

Jana Kitch is a Pediatric Occupational Therapist at Tri-County Therapy in Charleston, SC. She earned her master's in occupational therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina in July 2017.

Mariah Fleming Nasrollahi is the Key Administrative Coordinator at Robert Bosch in Charleston. She and her husband, David Nasrollahi '14, live in Summerville, SC.

Brennen Reeves of Hilton Head Island, SC, is touring with his one-man show, Breathe, a comedy about his life as a cystic fibrosis and double lung transplant survivor. He shares his story with levity and self-awareness. Mr. Reeves wrote the play as part of a solo performance class during his senior year at the College. His professor, David Lee Nelson '00, directed the play.

Kate Salzillo is a Senior Associate at the accounting firm, KPMG, LLP, located in Tysons Corner, VA.


Ben Stephens is earning his Ph.D. in chemistry at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.
