Three Perfect Days in Charleston with Victoria Howle Moore ’06 and David Moore ’02
Planning to come to Spring Alumni Weekend and A Charleston Affair, May 3-4? We asked alumni Victoria Howle Moore ’06 and David Moore ’02 to share their best advice for planning the perfect weekend in Charleston.
From among the hotels listed in our Alumni Discount Directory, which ones would you recommend and why?
“The Dewberry has it all! When we were in school, this was the old federal building on Meeting Street across from Marion Square. The Dewberrys took a chance on it and we could not be more impressed with what they have done to this building! Everything at The Dewberry is top of the line, from fabulous food to exquisite furnishings. You will love the upscale retro vibe. Check out the spa for the ultimate in relaxation and the view from the rooftop Citrus Club can’t be beat. Reserve online and use promo code COFCSC for 15% off.”
“The Ryder Hotel is another great option. Many CofC graduates will remember it as the King Charles Inn. It recently changed hands and received a super fun renovation! The Ryder has a great location for those walking to Spring Alumni Weekend events on campus and groups traveling together will love meeting for drinks at The Little Palm. And The Ryder offers CofC alumni 17% off their best available rate.”
Which ticket type would you select for A Charleston Affair this year?
“The 65 George Street VIP option is great because this is where you will find all the delicious sushi! We also like this location because it provides a retreat from the music and allows us to catch up with friends. If you can splurge, we’d recommend the Randolph Hall/VIP All Access tickets, which come with an annual sponsorship package. The food in Randolph Hall is primo and you get easy access to the dance floor. But best of all is the view from the portico! Watching all the grads, old and new, having so much fun on the dance floor is the best part of the night. The other amazing benefit of the Randolph Hall tickets is that you will get to enjoy all five VIP locations. But honestly, there is no such thing as a bad ticket to A Charleston Affair. It’s the best party in town and we hope to see you there!”
