Kenneth Godfrey served as the Division Chief for the National Security Agency in Fort Meade, MD, and has recently retired. Mr. Godfrey is a loyal donor to the Cougar Club.

Marilyn Jones Armstrong is the Data Operations Specialist for the Catholic Diocese of Raleigh in Raleigh, NC. Ms. Armstrong has generously given to the Alumni Association Fund and the Tony Meyer Endowed Scholarship. She is the mother of Cary Dennis ’99 and Erin Parker ’03.

Gerilyn Graham Leland is a Teacher for the Charleston County School District in Charleston, SC.

Steve Thompson retired in September 2021 from the University of Tennessee. Dr. Thompson has supported the College through gifts to the Alumni Association Fund and the Student Emergency Fund. He and his wife currently reside in Knoxville, TN.

Deborah Deas is the Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences and Dean of School of Medicine for the University of California Riverside. She married her husband, Bill Milligan, in June 2020. Recently, Dr. Deas was elected to the National Academy of Medicine. She has given to the Ward B. Miller Scholarship at the College.

Behren Kittrell is an owner of Charleston Flat Fee Real Estate and has been a Charleston Trident Association of Realtors “Realtor of Distinction” since 2013. Ms. Kittrell has given in support of the College’s Yes! I’m a Feminist fundraiser, the Alumni Fund, the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art, and the CofC Fund.

Susan Olson Hilsman is a retired Physician. She enjoys working on the Advisory Board for the CofC School of Science and Mathematics and is newly appointed to the Advisory Board for CofC’s School of Languages, Cultures, and World Affairs. Dr. Hilsman welcomed a grandson, Arlo, into her family in June 2021. She has most recently generously given to the Alumni Fund and the College of Charleston EMS Fund.

Skip Utsey is the Chancellor for the Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina and serves as Vice President of the Charleston Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. Mr. Utsey has donated to support the CofC Fund, the Greek Leadership Fund, and the Student Emergency Fund.

Angela Baker ’98 is the owner of ABC Dance, LLC, in Mount Pleasant, SC and she is the director of Holy City Hotfoot. Ms. Baker is a generous donor to the College, most recently giving to the Alumni Fund to support scholarships for students.

Elizabeth Guerard Maglione is Executive Vice President of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators. She earned a certificate in nonprofit leadership from Georgetown University. Ms. Maglione also serves on the Board of Directors of the National Association for College Admissions Counseling. She lives in Washington, D.C., with her husband, Justin, and their two children, Max and Evangeline.

Kirsten Williams Mogensen is the Senior Business Execution Consultant for Wells Fargo in Charlotte, NC. She married Christian Mogensen in September.

James Tuttle is the Dean of Students at Avenues for The World School in San Jose, CA. Mr. Tuttle welcomed his daughter, Elizabeth, in January 2019.

Lauren Knapp was appointed the Counter Threat Manager for the Charleston County Department of Public Safety in June 2020. She supports six divisions within the Charleston County Government Public Safety Department, including the 911 Consolidated Dispatch Center, Emergency Medical Services, Tri-County Biological Science Center, Awendaw Fire Department, Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, and Emergency Management Service.

Natalie Friton Staines is the Senior Director of Global Partner Marketing at Salesforce in San Francisco, Ms. Staines resides in Moraga, CA, with her husband, Tim, and their two children, Connor and Avery.

Matthew Tuerk is the Mayor of the City of Allentown, the third largest city in Pennsylvania. Mayor Tuerk earned his master’s degree in international business from the University of South Carolina in 2004. He and his wife, Karen, have two children, Mel and Margot.

Laura Goldfarb Goins serves as the Deputy Treasurer of Unclaimed Property for the West Virginia State Treasurer’s Office in Charleston, WV. Ms. Goins earned her JD from the University of South Carolina in 2006. She and her husband, Jace, have two children, Emily and Lanham.

Luke Reasoner is a Senior News Designer for The Philadelphia Inquirer. Mr. Reasoner married his wife, Catherine, in May 2021. The couple resides in Ocala, FL.

Margaret Haley Phelan recently relocated from Okinawa, Japan, to Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. Capt. Phelan is the Executive Officer to the Air Mobility Command Staff Judge Advocate. She and her husband, Craig, have two children, Piper and Murphy.

Zachary Hanson is the Head of Machine Learning Product for Brightcove. Mr. Hanson just released a book called Turning Feral with a major publisher. He resides in Atlanta, ID.

Nicholas Reaves is an Anesthesiologist in Sneads Ferry, NC. He received his MD in 2017 from the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Reaves is married to Jenna Reaves, and the couple welcomed their first child, Charlotte, in August 2021.

Kristen Bani is the Director of Merchandising at Giorgio Armani in New York City.

Molly Whittaker Garrard is an Art Teacher for Rock Hill Schools in Rock Hill, SC. She got her master’s degree in art education at the University of South Carolina. Ms. Garrard married Cole Garrard in April 2018 and the couple welcomed their first child, Jack, in March. Molly’s sister, Zoe Whittaker ’14, is a fellow School of the Arts graduate in music.

Sabra Berger Jewell was recently named the first Communication Coordinator for the City of Monmouth in Oregon. Mrs. Jewell earned her MPA in Nonprofit Management from University of Colorado in 2018. She is also earning her MS in Social Justice from Western Oregon University and is expected to graduate in 2023.

Ross Kressel is the Vice President, Strategic Advisory, at BNY Mellon in Pittsburgh. Mr. Kressel and his wife, Rachel, have a daughter, Claire, and welcomed a son, Seth, in September.

Hannah Murray Conti is the Engineering Manager at Spotify in New York City. She married Andrew Conti ’12 in August 2021.

Chanel Goldberg Lewis is the new Event Manager at the Four Seasons Hotel in Nashville, TN. Ms. Lewis joined the InterContinental Hotels Group in 2015 to work in catering sales, service, and management before accepting her first position with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in 2021. She attended an accelerated culinary arts program at The Culinary Institute of America at Greystone in Napa Valley, CA, and later earned a certificate in plant-based nutrition from the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies and eCornell. She married Alexander Lewis ’16 in September 2019 and the couple resides in Nashville, TN.

Deniz Houston is the Digital Economy Policy Advisor at the Delegation of the European Union to the U.S. She recently graduated with her master’s degree in European Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University in 2022. Ms. Houston resides in Washington, D.C.

Malcolm Kates is the resident Physician at the University of Alabama. Dr. Kates received his MD from the University of Florida College of Medicine in 2021. Dr. Kates married Samantha Piergross ’15 in October 2022. Dr. Kates has recently donated to support to the Honors College.
