November 2021

1985

Nadine Orsoff Vogel and her husband, Doug, are relocating to Folly Beach, SC, after many years in New Jersey and Florida. Ms. Vogel has started a new interior design business called Sweetgrass Living.

1990

Craig Plank is an Agent for State Farm Insurance Company. Mr. Plank has three children and resides in Columbia, SC, with his wife, Dawndy. His son, Chase Plank, will graduate from the College in 2022.

1992

John Rutenberg is the Market President, Myrtle Beach, for Truist Bank. Mr. Rutenberg lives in Myrtle Beach, SC, with his wife, Kim, and their daughter. He is a generous supporter of our alma mater, donating regularly to the Alumni Fund, the School of the Arts Dean’s Excellence Fund, and the CofC Fund.

1993

Cindy Clegg Davies was hired as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Workforce Development at Western Piedmont Community College in August. Ms. Davies attended the University of South Carolina where she earned her MLIS in 1995 and her graduate certificate in higher education leadership in 2009. She is currently working towards earning her PhD from Clemson University with plans to graduate this year. Ms. Davies resides in Greer, SC, with her husband, Robert.

1994

Sean Fowler is the President of Vetus Group Security Consulting. Mr. Fowler and his wife, Ricci, reside in Summerville, SC, and have a son, William Fowler ’17.

Abby Edwards Saunders is a Partner of MGC Law in their Myrtle Beach, SC, office. Ms. Saunders serves as President of the Horry County Bar Association, President of the Coastal American Inn of Court, and is on the South Carolina Board of Bar Examiners. She is Co-Founder of the Grand Strand Homeless Justice Project and sits on their Executive Board. Ms. Saunders is a Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga Teacher and founder of Yoga on the Strand.

1998

Margaret Onisick Lawless is the Chief Product Officer for TeachTown. Ms. Lawless earned her MS in computer science from The Citadel in 2006. She and her husband, Gene Lawless ’05, reside in Pittsboro, NC, with their son, Lou.

Toshawnka Thomas Mahone was named Principal of Andrews High School for the Georgetown County School District. She resides in Goose Creek, SC.

2001

Stephen Chrisanthus is the Managing Director of One Degree Consulting and is currently producing Hollywood movies and shows. Mr. Chrisanthus earned his MS in public relations from New York University in 2012. He resides in Charleston, SC.

Christi Wickliffe-Bessinger is a Realtor for Century 21 Boling & Associates. Ms. Wickliffe-Bessinger resides in Surfside Beach, SC, with her husband, John, and their two children, Michaela and Rivers. She recently donated to the CofC Alumni Association Fund.

2003

Jeff Bogdan has joined Parker Poe in their Charleston Office. Mr. Bogdan focuses on estate planning and probate. He is a former staff attorney for the South Carolina Supreme Court. Mr. Bogdan is a graduate of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Charleston program. He lives in Charleston, SC, with his wife, Kelley Bowers Bogdan ’05, and their two sons.

Rhetta Simon Cloyd and Cate Lynch Goff ’01, were recognized along with their team at In The Black Marketing Consulting, as the Best Marketing Firm in Charleston by the readers of the Post & Courier, Mount Pleasant Magazine, and Charleston Living Magazine. In September, they earned the award Best Logo by the Charleston Chapter of the American Marketing Association. Ms. Cloyd is the Co-Owner and Chief Marketing Officer while Ms. Goff is a Partner and the Director of Creative Strategy. Ms. Goff has given generously in support of the College’s Communication Department and the Student Emergency Fund.

2004

Leah Ketterman Cox is the Center Director of The Tutoring Center, Greenville. Ms. Cox and her husband, James, reside in Simpsonville, SC, with their three children. She is a loyal donor to our alma mater, supporting the CofC Fund and the Alumni Fund.

Caroline Bell Stowe is a Nurse Practitioner and works as the Migraine Clinical Team Lead for the telemedicine company Nurx. Ms. Stowe recently received a Certificate of Added Qualification in Headache Medicine, administered by the National Headache Foundation. She resides in Annandale, VA, with her husband, Jon Stowe ’05. The Stowes are devoted to the College, making gifts to the Alumni Fund, the Student Emergency Fund, and the Biology Department in recent years.

2005

Gray McDowell is a Change Management Consultant for Alithya and resides in Jacksonville, FL.

2007

Oli Marmol has been named the 51st Manager of the St. Louis Cardinals after serving as the team’s Bench Coach for the past two seasons. Mr. Marmol and his wife, Amber, have a daughter and live in Florida in the off-season.

Mercedes Pinckney Reese is the new Staff Attorney for the Charleston County School District. Ms. Pinckney Reese has served as Associate General Counsel for the Secretary of the Air Force’s Office of General Counsel since November 2020. She and her husband, Robert, reside in Goose Creek, SC, and are sponsors of the Alumni Association. The Reeses have donated to the Alumni Fund this year as well.

Kate Tiller (MPA ’10) was promoted to Senior Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Success and Senior Woman Administrator for the College in July 2020. Ms. Tiller is a generous donor to our alma mater, supporting the Cougar Club, the Baseball Fund, Women’s and Gender Studies, and the John Creed Award.

2008

Erik Johnstone (BS ’09) is a Managing Member of Innovative Fuel Solutions, LLC, alongside the founder and other managing member, Dr. Edward Mausolf, where the two are pursuing and consulting in nuclear technologies related to the commercialization of medical isotope production (under a subsidiary company: ÆTMX), nuclear waste processing and disposal, as well as the development of novel mining techniques for recovering precious metals and elements of high industrial value. Dr. Johnstone earned his PhD from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in 2014.

John Nail is an Associate, Taxation and Wealth Planning, for Fox Rothschild LLP, in Atlanta.

Courtney Sears Rossi works for Roanoke Insurance Group and resides on Folly Beach, SC, with her two sons, Maddox and Enzo.

2009

Alyssa Caparaso Frisby recently passed the Commission on Dietetic Registration RD Examination and is now a Registered Dietician Nutritionist at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, AR. Ms. Frisby earned her MS in nutrition from the University of Central Arkansas in August. She and her husband reside in Lonoke, AR, with their daughter, Rose.

2010

Maura Langston is the Business Development Manager for the Turning Leaf Project and resides in Charleston, SC.

2012

Anthony James (MAT) is the Director of Minority Education and Outreach at the College. Dr. James earned his EdD in curriculum and instruction from the University of South Carolina in 2018. He and his wife, Kiara, reside in Columbia, SC, with their two children, Amahri and Brielle.

Cameron Moon was appointed a 2020 Wood Family Fellow at Drayton Hall. Ms. Moon is the Assistant Curator of Historic Architectural Resources at Drayton Hall. She resides in Charleston, SC.

2013

Sarah Scudder Davis is a Lieutenant of Maritime Homeland Security/Defense for Pacific Area in the U.S. Coast Guard. Lieutenant Davis and her husband, Petty Officer Stephen Davis, welcomed their daughter Charlie in April 2020. The Davis family resides in Albany, CA.

Richard Duncan is the Neighborhood Program Director at Stanford University. Mr. Duncan earned his MEd in counselor education from Clemson University in 2015. He resides in San Francisco, CA. He is a generous donor to the College, supporting the Alumni Fund, the Student Affairs Excellence Fund, and the CofC Fund in recent years.

2014

Taylor Weil married Kendall Durkee in Topanga, CA, in September. The couple resides in Los Angeles.

Amy Johnson Gerhardt is a Photographer and the Owner of Pink Chair Photography in Charleston, SC. A photograph titled, “She is Worthy,” created by Ms. Gerhardt has been accepted into the Imaging Excellence Collection of Professional Photographers of America’s 2021 International Photographic Competition. She resides in Goose Creek, SC, with her husband, Jerry, and two sons.

Tavish Van Skoik is an Instructional Technology Coach for the Sumer School District and resides in Sumter, SC.

Danielle Winter Wolanski is a Latin Teacher at Sanford School in Hockessin, DE. Ms. Wolanski is studying classics at Villanova University with plans to graduate with her MA in December. She resides in Wilmington, DE, with her husband, Mark. She is a stalwart supporter of her alma mater with gifts to the Alumni Fund, the Classics Fund, and the School of Languages, Cultures, and World Affairs.

2015

Travis Green works in Human Resources for the U.S. Army in Fort Carson, CO. Mr. Green earned his MS in behavior analysis in 2017 from Georgetown University and is now studying social work at the University of Denver with plans to graduate with his MSW in 2022. He is a stalwart supporter of the Alumni Fund and attends many CofC Club events.

Grace Newall married Tommy Zanowic in Bay Head, NJ, in September. The couple resides in Brick, NJ.

2016

Katie Booth is a Health Analyst for Mathematica Policy Research in Washington, DC. Ms. Booth earned her MPH in population and family health from Columbia University in 2020.

Carolyna Ramirez is a Paralegal for Bleecker Family Law and resides in Charleston, SC. Ms. Ramirez is a loyal donor to the College, giving generously to the Alumni Association, the Alumni Fund, the School of the Arts Dean’s Excellence Fund, and the CofC Fund.

2017

Kathryn Parton is the HR Manager for WHOOP in Boston.

2018

Lawson Thompson earned her MEd in early childhood education from Northcentral University in 2019. Ms. Thompson married Hunter Brandon in January 2019 and the couple resides in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Isabel Johnston was recently named a 2021 Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellow. Ms. Johnston was the recipient of the Susan Prazak award for future teachers while a student at the College. She will be attending Duquesne University and resides in Cape Elizabeth, ME.

Evan Roth is an Associate on the Inbound MoneyGuard Team for Lincoln Financial Distributors and resides in Fort Washington, PA. Mr. Roth has made gifts to the School of Business Finance Fund for the past two years.

2019

Carly Lovas has begun a master’s program at Columbia University in New York City. Ms. Lovas has joined the Goes Lab at Lamount-Doherty Earth Observatory studying the climate impacts on North Atlantic lobster fisheries.

Emily Warner is a Writer for EverSpark Interactive and resides in Atlanta. Ms. Warner has donated to support the CofC English Department’s Irish and Irish-American Studies Program.

2020

Hannah Angus is working as a Legal Personnel and Professional Development Assistant for Kelley Drye & Warren LLP, in New York City.

Ari Sechopoulos is the Manager and Hitting Instructor at Shipyard Park. Mr. Sechopoulos previously played for the San Marino Baseball Club in the Italian Baseball League. He is studying accountancy at the College, with plans to graduate with his MS in 2022. Mr. Sechopoulos resides in Mount Pleasant, SC.
