Mitchell Crosby is the CEO and Founder of JMC Charleston, an events company that specializes in planning corporate events, social functions, incentive trips, and destination management services. Mr. Crosby resides in Charleston, SC.

1988

Ed Nierstedt is the new VP Regional Sales/Ice for the Middleby Corporation with a focus on sales in the Northeast and Southeast. While at the College, Mr. Nierstedt played for the Men’s Basketball team. He and his wife, Jane, reside in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Paul Fischer is the Strategic Communications Advisor at Dominion Energy South Carolina. Mr. Fischer resides in Daniel Island, SC.

1991

Ed Macy (MA ’98) is a Historic Journalist, Professor, and the Owner and Operator of Ed Macy Tours. Mr. Macy authored the best-selling book, Haunted Charleston, in 2005. In it, he gives readers a glimpse into the supernatural history of the city. Mr. Macy also teaches English at Trident Technical College. He resides in Charleston, SC.

1994

Matt Viar left the rail industry after 27 years of service to take up a new position with Ocean Network Express North America as a Manager II, Marine Procurement. Mr. Viar resides in Midlothian, VA.

1998

Jenna Turner Bohannon is a Professional Development Coach at Dorchester School District Two. Last June, Ms. Bohannon represented the district in front of 17,000 attendees at the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) National Conference in Philadelphia. She presented on the importance of teaching digital citizenship at the primary level. In 2019, Ms. Bohannon was named the Honor Teacher of the Year of her school district, where she has taught for 26 years. Ms. Bohannon earned her MEd in curriculum and instruction from Concordia University in 2019, and she resides in Summerville, SC, with her husband, Brian.

1999

Elizabeth Smith is the new Director of Advancement for the New Orleans Jewish Community Center. Ms. Smith resides in New Orleans and recently made gifts to CofC’s Alumni Association Fund and Alumni Greek Life Scholarships Fund.

Tom Martin is the new AVP, Client Relations, at DRG Claims Management. He earned his MBA in human resource management from DeVry University in 2006 and his MA in adult and continuing education and teaching from the University of South Florida in 2009. Mr. Martin resides in Saint Petersburg, FL.

Carolyne Poling is the Senior Commercial Real Estate Paralegal at Graybill, Lansche & Vinzani, LLC. She resides in Hanahan, SC.

2003

Rhodes Bailey announced the formation of his law firm, Rhodes Bailey Law, LLC, in April. His area of focus is personal injury law and criminal defense. Mr. Bailey earned his JD from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2007. He resides in Columbia, SC. Mr. Bailey recently made a generous gift to the CofC Fund.

Chris Duncan (MA ’12) is the Senior Marketing Manager of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s School of Professional Studies. He resides in Greensboro, NC.

Rhonda Graham Mitchell is the Owner of The Drizzled Pear, a full-scale catering company based in Charleston, SC. She started the company in November of 2022. Ms. Graham resides in North Charleston, SC, with her husband, Kevin Mitchell, Sr., and their children, Jeremiah and Jordynn.

Ed Short is the Senior Associate Registrar for Scheduling and Operations at the University of South Carolina. Mr. Short earned his MEd in counselor education from Clemson University in 2006. He resides in Columbia, SC.

Kristen Johnson Watson joined Nth Degree in January as a Contract Specialist. Ms. Watson earned her master’s degree in marketing from the University of South Carolina in 2005. She resides in Alpharetta, GA, with her husband, Charles.

2004

Matthew Brockbank joined Marshall Walker Real Estate as a Realtor in March. Mr. Brockbank has more than 10 years of experience selling homes in the Charleston area. He resides in Charleston, SC.

Jeff Files was promoted to Chief Executive Officer of Integrity Locums in March. Mr. Files captained the Men’s Soccer team during his time at the College. He resides in Greenwood Village, CO, with his wife, Allison, and children. Mr. Files is a generous donor to our alma mater.

2005

Brooke Haman has been promoted to Solutions Development Manager at Georgia Power Company. Ms. Haman first started at the company in 2011. She and her husband, Lance, reside in Atlanta.

Atyia Sapp is the Product Manager, Digital Solutions, for the American College of Cardiology. She obtained her MHA from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2008. Ms. Sapp resides in Charlotte, NC.

2006

Meg Haley Phelan transitioned to the Air Force Reserves after 10 years as an active-duty Air Force Judge Advocate. Ms. Phelan joined the Equality Legal Action Fund as a Legal Counsel in April. She works to protect members of the LGBTQ+ community, educators, and elected officials against defamation and harassment. Ms. Phelan obtained her JD from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2009. She married Criag Phelan in 2018, and the couple resides in Troy, IL, with their two children, Piper and Murphy.

2008

Kate Greenburg Gilliom is the Assistant to College Counseling and the Registrar, Upper School Testing Coordinator, at Porter-Gaud School. Ms. Gilliom obtained her MA in romance languages and literatures in 2010 and her PhD in romance languages and literatures in 2016, both from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ms. Gilliom and her husband reside in Daniel Island, SC.

Patric Goettsches joined Mercedes-Benz USA as the Senior Manager, Vehicle Export Operations & Customs, in January. Mr. Goettsches and his wife, Megan Smith Goettsches ’07, reside in Mableton, GA.

Katie Schwalbe Lamb is an Instructional Designer at the Medical University of South Carolina. Ms. Lamb resides in Goose Creek, SC.

Rebecca Walters is a new Account Manager at Great Northern Laminations and resides in Sandwich, MA.

Kevin Burns is the Area Vice President of Casualty at Risk Placement Services, Inc. He married Marina Burns last May, and the couple resides in Tampa, FL.

2010

Fallon Donnahoo Peper is the Fine Artist and Retreat Director of Fallon Fine Art. Her oil paintings can be found in private collections throughout the country. Ms. Peper is a member of the American Impressionist Society, American Women Artists, and Charleston Artist Guild. She is also the Founder and Program Director for Field & Flow, a plein air painting retreat that brings together artists for oil instruction and community building. Ms. Peper resides in Charleston, SC.

Kyle Rees is a Senior Market Research Manager at Amazon. Mr. Rees earned his MBA in marketing from The George Washington University School of Business in 2015. He and his wife, Emily, reside in Silver Spring, MD. Mr. Rees is a prolific supporter of our alma mater, most recently making a generous gift to CofC’s Communication Department Fund.

Alex Rowedder married Marisa Erwin in March at the American Church in Paris, France. Mr. Rowedder is an Attorney and the General Manager of Risk Management for Delta Air Lines. He and his wife reside in Atlanta.

2011

Andrea DeSantis has joined the North Carolina Department of Commerce as the new Assistant Secretary for Workforce Solutions. She most recently served as a Policy Advisor to North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper where she focused on workforce development and higher education. Dr. DeSantis earned her MA in educational studies from the University of Cincinnati in 2016 and her PhD in higher education/higher education administration from North Carolina State University in 2021. Dr. DeSantis resides in Cary, NC, with her husband, Nicholas, and son, Thomas.

Christina Hohman (MA) has been promoted to Director, Performance Marketing, at Circle, a digital currency company. She resides in St. Petersburg, FL.

Elisabeth Obert Kodama is a Grants Administrator at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). Ms. Kodama earned her MS in biomedical sciences from MUSC in 2015. She resides in Charleston, SC.

Christina O’Boyle is the new Online Associate Merchant, Lumber, at Lowe’s Companies, Inc. She resides in Charlotte, NC.

Shannon Soos Rog married Jesse Rog in January of 2022. The couple resides in Charleston, SC, with their one-year-old twins, Isabella and Zane.

Liza Perez Holian is the Manager of Marketing and Communications for the Historic Charleston Foundation. Ms. Holian resides in North Charleston, SC.

Christian LeBlanc is the Founder of Christian LeBlanc Media, a social media and web design consultation agency based in Charleston, SC.

Sammy Snider (MPA ’23) is the Event and Contract Lead at Queen Street Hospitality and resides on Johns Island, SC.

Candice Alge has been promoted to Branch Operations Associate Manager at Wells Fargo and resides in Gaffney, SC.

John Berdux is the Chief Operating Office of Levity Beverages LLC, a company that produces hemp-derived Delta 9 THC-infused, non-alcoholic spirits. Mr. Berdux resides in Charleston, SC.

Jill Brown is a Float Pool Registered Nurse Supervisor at Inova Health. She resides in Upper Marlboro, MD.

Laura Christensen is a Visitor Engagement Coordinator at the South Carolina Aquarium. She resides in Charleston, SC.

Carrie Duncan is a Senior Client Outcome Specialist at Eastern Alliance Insurance Group and resides in Cartersville, GA.

Madelyn Stoneburner Rowland and her husband, Aaron Rowland ’10, are the proud owners of Pinot and Provisions, a store located in downtown Charleston that is equipped with all the essential items for hosting a party. Ms. Rowland is also the Director, Learning and Development, at Actabl, a hospitality tech solutions company. She earned her MBA from The Citadel in 2023. Mr. Rowland is a Managing Partner at YOURPAD, a vacation rentals company. The couple resides in Charleston, SC, with their daughter, Blakely, and two dogs.

Melissa Jacobs Connell is the new Financial Aid Specialist at Trident Technical College’s Thornley Campus. Ms. Connell has taught as an Adjunct Professor at CofC since 2021. She and her husband, Sean, reside in Summerville, SC.

Katherine Sluder is the Senior Marketing Manager at Beemok Hospitality Collection. Ms. Sluder resides in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Rachel Spivey Valentine has been promoted to Account Executive at RKD Group, a marketing and fundraising solutions provider for nonprofit organizations. Ms. Valentine and her husband, William, welcomed a daughter, Billie, to the family last March. The couple resides in Cayce, SC.

Liam Becker is the Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Levity Cannabis Spirits. Mr. Becker’s business venture was featured in Forbes in 2023. He resides in Charleston, SC.

Amanda Gorman is the Director of Ticket Operations for the Charleston Battery. Ms. Gorman resides in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Marcus Gray has been promoted to Director of Reef Cleaning Solutions . He resides in St. Neots, England.

Elizabeth Koehler was promoted to Senior Implementation Consultant at Autodesk in April. Ms. Koehler resides in Salt Lake City.

Kornelia Kostka is the new Product Manager for Strata Platforms. Ms. Kostka earned her MBA in international business from the University of South Carolina in 2018. She resides in Greenville, SC.

Bobby Nichols was promoted to Associate Broker at AmWINS Group in February. Mr. Nichols earned his post-baccalaureate certificate in strategic marketing from Northwestern University in 2017. He resides in Santa Monica, CA.

Naomi Samuels is the new Turf Advisor for Southern Turf Co. Ms. Samuels graduated from Tulane University with her MBA in strategic management and innovation in 2023. She resides in Charlotte, NC.

2017

Emily Beck is pursuing a Master of Criminology and Criminal Justice from Auckland University of Technology on a Fulbright Scholarship. Ms. Beck resides in Auckland, New Zealand.

Andrew Bock has been promoted to Deputy Director of Planning and Zoning for the City of North Charleston. He and his wife, Victoria Futrell Bock ’17, reside in Charleston, SC.

Marissa Myhill Eason joined The Cook and Boardman Group, LLC, as a Sales Enablement Specialist in April. She and her husband, Matt, welcomed their second daughter to the family in January. The Eason family resides in Irmo, SC, with their two children, Olivia and Charlotte.

Courtney Pourciaux has been promoted to Senior Consultant at Ruffalo Noel Levitz. Ms. Pourciaux earned her MPA in nonprofit management from the University of Missouri in 2023. She resides in Chicago and recently made a gift to CofC’s Alison Piepmeier Scholarship.

Erin Stotts was promoted to Senior Associate Underwriter at Amwins Special Risk Underwriters, LLC, in April. Ms. Stotts resides in Charlotte, NC.

Matt Weatherford is the new Assistant Vice President, Acquisitions, at Peachtree Group. He resides in Atlanta.

2018

Leland Archer is a Defender for the Charleston Battery, Charleston’s premier soccer team. Mr. Archer is the longest-tenured player at the club, having played in more than 100 matches since 2018. He played for the College’s soccer team for four years. In his final season, he led the team in scoring. He resides in Charleston, SC.

Ellie Thomson Davis is planning to graduate with her MS in journalism from Columbia University in May. Ms. Davis married Paul Davis in 2021, and the couple resides in New York City.

Sydney Jaicks is the new Donor Engagement Manager at One80 Place. She resides in Charleston, SC.

Jaquan Leonard is the new Senior Associate of Instructional Design for Total Wine & More. He will be responsible for designing learning experiences and content that will help facilitate internal growth. Mr. Leonard resides in Columbia, SC.

Jenesha Nance joined the BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Foundation in February as a Grants Administrator. Ms. Nance earned her MPH from the University of South Carolina in 2021. She resides in Columbia, SC, with her husband, Anwar Staggers ’10.

Jordan Vacchiano is a Firefighter, Fire Engineer, for the City of Charleston Fire Department. Mr. Vacchiano earned his undergraduate degree from the College while working full time at the Coming Street Fire Station. He married Ellen Bouchard Vacchiano ’11 last May, and the couple resides in Charleston, SC.

Tanner Baldwin was promoted to Area Vice President at Gallagher in March. Mr. Baldwin resides in Washington, D.C.

William Blanchett is a Software Developer for Boeing. He resides in Ladson, SC.

Kaitlin Cassidy is a Biostatistician at the VA Boston Healthcare System. In March, a manuscript that she collaborated on during her time at Boston Medical Center was published in the Journal of Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics. Ms. Cassidy earned her MPH from Boston University in 2021, and she resides in Boston.

Grace Hartley is the Director of Public Relations for Complete PR. In March, she was recognized in the GSA Business Report’s list of Forty Under 40. Ms. Hartley resides in Greenville, SC.

Zahra Jasdanwala is the new Planner, Strategy, at Zenith: The ROI Agency. Ms. Jasdanwala resides in Millburn, NJ.

Anthony Morrell (MS ’20) is a Software Engineer at Blackbaud and resides in Summerville, SC.

Megan Morris is the new Engagement Manager at MuleSoft, a software company based in San Francisco. Ms. Morris resides in Atlanta.

Jabbarrius Ervin matched to a psychiatry residency training program at George Washington University in March through the National Resident Matching Program. Mr. Ervin is a medical student at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville. He is scheduled to earn his medical degree in May.

2021

Janneke Morin Clever was promoted to Technical Consultant II at Capgemini in January. She married Robert Clever ’21 in September of 2022. The couple resides on Johns Island, SC.

Angus MacIver is a Marketing & Communications Specialist for KION North America. He resides in North Charleston, SC.

Jeremy Pires is the new Program Coordinator for the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Hollings Cancer Center. Mr. Pires earned his MPH from MUSC in December. He spent more than eight years serving with the United States Marine Corps before coming to the College. Mr. Pires resides in Charleston, SC.

Bond Ruggles (MA) is the Owner of Hottest Hell Tours, a New Orleans-based tour company dedicated to the correction of historical misinformation and problematic narratives in Southern tourism. Ms. Ruggles is also an Adjunct Professor of history at the College. She resides in New Orleans and enjoys spending her free time with her granddaughter, Helena. Ms. Ruggles recently made generous gifts to CofC’s Campus Preservation Fund, the CofC Fund, and the Alumni Association Fund.

Claire Blanton is the new Special Assistant to the Deputy Ambassador in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. Ms. Blanton resides in Washington, D.C.

Maeghan Dolph is a Production Assistant, SEO Writer, at Fox Corporation. She recently made a gift to the Campus Preservation Fund. Ms. Dolph resides in New York City.

Gabby Hanley joined Cushman & Wakefield as a Brokerage Specialist in March. Ms. Hanley resides in Potomac, MD.

Michael Lee (MBA) has been promoted to Analytics Supervisor at Levelwing, a marketing agency based in Charleston, SC. Mr. Lee recently made a gift to the MBA Operating Fund.

Adam Martz returned to his alma mater in March to begin work as a Transfer Admissions Counselor at the College. Mr. Martz resides in Isle of Palms, SC.

Julia Hughes is a Digital Marketing Intern with Reingold, Inc., a communications firm based in Alexandria, VA. Ms. Hughes is a graduate student at Georgetown University with plans to earn her Master of Integrated Marketing Communications this September. Ms. Hughes resides in Washington, D.C.
