July 2024

1974

Julian Wiles was inducted into the College of Fellows of the American Theatre at a luncheon held at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., in April. Mr. Wiles is the Founder and Director Emeritus of Charleston Stage, in residence at the historic Dock Street Theatre. He retired in 2023 after 45 years with the nonprofit. Mr. Wiles earned his MFA in dramatic arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1976. He is married to Jenny Hane ’74, and the couple resides in Mount Pleasant, SC. The alumni couple are fervent supporters of the College and recently made a generous gift to CofC’s Department of Theatre and Dance Fund.

1981

Sharon Fitzgerald Maiewski is an Associate Professor in physician assistant studies at James Madison University. Ms. Maiewski practices medicine with her local Blue Ridge Free Clinic and the Healthcare for the Homeless Suitcase Clinic. She resides in Harrisonburg, VA.

1983

Scott Cracraft has been named to Forbes’ list of Best-In-State Wealth Advisors for the fourth consecutive year. Mr. Cracraft is the Managing Director of Raymond James in Charleston, SC. He was recently inducted into the Waties Waring Society in recognition of his past service on the College’s Alumni Association Board. He and his wife, Janet Heath Cracraft ’85, reside in Mount Pleasant, SC, and have two children, Chip and Kellee Ann Cracraft DeVore ’15. Mr. and Ms. Cracraft are ardent supporters of the College, having established the Cracraft Family Endowed Scholarship in 2015. They recently gave in support of CofC’s School of Business – Dean’s Excellence Fund, the Karen Burroughs Jones ’74 Alumni Scholarship Fund, and the Alumni Greek Life Scholarships Fund.

1984

Tom Guthrie joined CV International’s Business Development team in June after more than a decade with North Carolina State Ports Authority. Mr. Guthrie resides in Wilmington, NC, with his wife, Meg.

1985

Martha Sue Barnes Smith is a new Account Executive at Partnerships in Education and Resilience. Ms. Smith earned her MA in architecture from the University of Virginia in 1989. She and her husband, Scott, reside in Mandeville, LA.

1989

Dave Lobo is a Sales and Marketing Operations Team Leader at Spectrum Enterprise and a Professor of Digital Marketing and Brand Management at Collin College. Dr. Lobo earned his EdD in applied learning sciences from the University of Miami in May. He previously earned his MBA from the University of Dallas. Dr. Lobo resides in Frisco, TX.

1992

Beau Schweikert is the new Chief Financial Officer for Beatty Management Company and the head of the company’s family office. Mr. Schweikert resides in McLean, VA, and recently made a gift to the Karen Burroughs Jones ’74 Alumni Scholarship Fund.

1994

Greg Rothschild is a Psychotherapist in Mount Pleasant, SC. He owns and operates River Counseling, LLC, which focuses primarily on male clients. He received his MA in clinical counseling from The Citadel in 2022. Mr. Rothschild resides in Mount Pleasant, SC, with his wife, Debbie, and their son. Mr. Rothschild recently made gifts to CofC’s Alumni and Jewish Historical Society of SC Funds.

1995

Amanda Mottorn is a Business Development Representative for Atmire, a repository solutions company based in Belgium. Ms. Mottorn achieved her lifelong dream of writing a book in 2021 with the publication of Finding Moksha: One Woman’s Path in Uncertain Times. That same year, she received a scholarship from the Rome Art Program to paint and draw with international teachers in Italy. In 2022, Ms. Mottorn exhibited some of her paintings at Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, and in 2023, one of her paintings was displayed at a gallery in New York City. Ms. Mottorn earned her MLIS from the University of Pittsburgh in 1999. She resides in Pittsburgh, PA.

1997

Anthony Johnson was inducted into the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame during the 62nd annual South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Banquet in May. Mr. Johnson is the all-time career assists leader for CofC Basketball and the first CofC player to be selected in the NBA Draft. He played in the NBA from 1997-2010. Mr. Johnson resides in Mableton, GA, with his wife, Crystal. The Johnsons have been stalwart supporters of the College, particularly Athletics, and were leading donors in building TD Arena.

Megan Crawford Shaw is the new Area Director of the South-Central Region for SafeRise LLC. Ms. Shaw her MA in human resources in 2001 and her MBA in 2003 from Ottawa University. She resides in Fort Worth, TX, with her husband, Jason, and son, Crawford.

1999

Carolus Daniel III has been promoted to Director of Financial Planning and Analysis with the Jacksonville Port Authority. Mr. Daniel earned his BS in accounting from Savannah State University in 2012. He is currently pursuing his MBA from Florida Gulf Coast University with plans to graduate in August. Mr. Daniel and his wife, Erin, reside in St. Johns, FL, with their daughters, Elliana and Elizabeth.

2000

Mark Condon joined Trade Mining as a Senior Account Executive in May. Mr. Condon resides in Charleston, SC, with his wife, Shannon Foster Condon ’92 (MPA ’01), and their sons, Paul Condon, Jr. ’24 and Jameson Condon ’24.

Margaret Seeley Furniss is the Vice President, Brand Experience, for Beemok Hospitality Collection. Ms. Furniss earned her MS in communications design from the Pratt Institute in 2002. She and her husband, Kris, reside in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Tameka Pooser-Baker is the Global Human Resources Director for GlobalWave Consulting LLC. She earned her MHR from Webster University in 2008. Ms. Pooser-Baker resides in West Columbia, SC, with her son and daughter.

Stevie Shirey is a Teacher at North Charleston High School. She was named a top-five finalist for Charleston County School District’s 2024 Teacher of the Year award. Ms. Shirey resides in Goose Creek, SC.

2002

Julia Royall is a Teacher at West Ashley High School. She was named a top-five finalist for Charleston County School District’s 2024 Teacher of the Year award. Ms. Royall resides in Charleston, SC.

2003

Mary Shields is the Chief Financial Officer at Beemok Hospitality Collection. She earned her MHA from Mercy College of Ohio in 2022. Ms. Shields resides in Charleston, SC, with her two sons.

Cary Lee Simmons Weissman is the Chief Executive Officer of AIC Group, LLC. She earned her MBA from Auburn University in May. Ms. Weissman and her husband, Gregg, reside in Auburn, AL, with their son, Grant, and daughter, Stella.

2004

Thea Gaillard joined the United States Department of the Navy as a Financial Management Analyst in May. Ms. Gaillard earned her MBA from Webster University in 2014. She resides in Arlington, VA.

2005

Natalie Whitney Murdy is a Grant Writer for the City of Charleston. Ms. Murdy and her husband, Bruce, reside in Mount Pleasant, SC, with their daughter, Grace. The Murdy family are ardent supporters of the College, recently giving to CofC’s Communication Department Fund and Alumni Fund.

Becca Randall joined Thomasville Humane in Thomasville, GA, as the Shelter Collaborative Programs Specialist in May.

2006

Piper Reiff Byzet is a Law Clerk to U.S. District Judge Bruce Howe Hendricks ’83. Ms. Byzet earned her JD from the Charleston School of Law in 2011. She and her husband, Matt, reside in Charleston, SC.

Courtney Long Capata is the Senior Vice President, Communications, for Beemok Hospitality Collection. She married Michael Capata in December 2022, and the couple resides in Charleston, SC.

Courtney Clarkson Farrell is a Realtor with William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty. Ms. Farrell and her husband, Matthew, welcomed their second son, Jones, to the family in May. The couple resides in Stonington, CT, with their children, Benjamin and Jones.

Sarah Clark Hopfer has been named to Charlotte Business Journal’s list of “40 Under 40” honorees for 2024. Ms. Hopfer is the Strategic Marketing Director, Mid-Atlantic, for Forvis Mazars US. She resides in Fort Mill, SC, with her husband, Clark, and daughter, Avery Faith.

Marc McCain is the President and CEO of Peter Elish Investments Securities. He and his wife, Kayla, welcomed their second son, Greyson, to the family in 2022. The couple resides in Colleyville, TX, with sons Declan and Greyson.

2008

Andrew Dana is the Co-Owner and Founder of Timber Pizza Company and Call Your Mother Deli. Founded in 2014, Timber Pizza Company will open its fifth location in Annapolis, MD, this summer. Meanwhile, Call Your Mother Deli—founded in 2018—currently has 15 locations in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and Denver. Mr. Dana and his wife, Daniela, celebrated the birth of their daughter, Josefina, in February of 2023. The couple resides in Washington, D.C.

2010

Jessica Colie McClellan earned her JD from the Temple University School of Law in May. After sitting for the Pennsylvania Bar, she will join Troutman Pepper’s Philadelphia office in the fall as an Entry Level Associate in the White Collar + Government Investigations practice area. Ms. McClellan previously earned her MFA in theatre arts from Rutgers University in 2013. She resides in Philadelphia.

2011

Maeve McKenna Gallivan is the Founder of Emyvale Golf, a women’s golf clothing company. She earned her MPS in public relations and corporate communications from Georgetown University in 2016. Ms. Gallivan and her husband, Matt, reside in Mount Pleasant, SC. Ms. Gallivan recently made a gift to CofC’s Friends of the Library Fund.

Nicole Trevisan has been promoted to Senior Enterprise Project Intake Analyst at Randstad USA. She recently completed her Yellow Belt Six Sigma Certification. Ms. Trevisan resides in Roswell, GA.

2012

Katie Schafer Barker (MAcc ’13) has been named to Charlotte Business Journal’s list of “40 Under 40” honorees for 2024. Ms. Barker is the Vice President of Accounting for Morningstar Properties and the President of the Charlotte, NC, chapter of the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Network. She and her husband, Thomas, reside in Charlotte, NC, with their son, Laughton.

Taylor Bell has been promoted to Vice President, Asset Management, at Abdo Development, LLC, a real estate development and investment company based in Washington, D.C. He and his wife, Erin, welcomed their daughter, McCarty, to the family last March. The Bell family resides in Alexandria, VA.

Laney Talbert Friedman and Matt Friedman ’12 celebrated the birth of their son, Parker, in June. They are also the proud parents of a daughter, Charley Rose. Ms. Talbert is the Executive Associate and Foundation Board Liaison within the College’s Division of Institutional Advancement. The Friedman family resides in Charleston, SC, and most recently made gifts to the CofC Fund, the Alumni Fund, and the Karen Burroughs Jones ’74 Alumni Scholarship Fund.

Keisha Murray is an Attorney at Van Kampen Law. She was recently selected to serve on the Mecklenburg Bar Association Board of Directors, Ms. Murray earned her JD from the Charleston School of Law in 2019. She resides in Charlotte, NC, with her daughter, Aalaysia.

2013

Ashley Davis Busby is a Registered Nurse and Licensed Esthetician specializing in medical aesthetics at Summerville Medical Spa. Ms. Busby earned her ADN from Trident Technical College in December 2022. She resides in North Charleston, SC.

Victoria Davis (MPA ’17) was accepted into a fully funded PhD in Political Science program at the University of California, Merced. Ms. Davis earned her MPA and a graduate certificate in urban and regional planning from the College in 2017. She resides in Merced, CA, and recently made a gift to CofC’s Alumni Association Fund.

Kelly O’Brien Flynn is the Director of Private Wealth Planning at McBee Avenue Wealth Advisors. She and her husband, Dr. Joseph Flynn ’14, welcomed their son, James, to the family in May. The Flynns reside in Greenville, SC.

Simón Muñoz-Alvarez is the Lead Control Officer at Wells Fargo. Mr. Muñoz-Alvarez was named to Charlotte Business Journal’s list of “40 Under 40” honorees for 2023. He has served on the College’s Hispanic Advisory Board since 2021. Mr. Muñoz-Alvarez resides in Charlotte, NC, with his wife, Sallie Funderburk Muñoz-Alvarez ’13. Mr. Muñoz-Alvarez is a generous supporter of CofC’s Hispanic Studies Fund.

2014

Daniel Prentice is the new Chief Financial Officer for the Charleston County School District. He had previously served as Deputy County Administrator for Dorchester County Government since 2016. Mr. Prentice earned his MBA from Louisiana State University Shreveport in 2021. He resides in North Charleston, SC.

Bri Sanders is a Registered Nurse at John Hopkins Hospital. In May, Bri earned an ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification from the Oncology Nursing Society. Bri obtained an MS in nursing from the University of Maryland in 2020. Bri resides in Halethorpe, MD, with their spouse, Shannon.

Shana Sue Smith is an Associate Attorney at Copeland, Stair, Valz & Lovell, LLP. In May, the firm announced that the South Carolina Bar Board of Governors had appointed Ms. Smith to serve as a 9th Circuit Delegate in the House of Delegates. Ms. Smith earned her JD from the Charleston School of Law in 2021. She resides in Charleston, SC.

2015

Griffin Siegel is a Senior Account Manager at Evaluate Ltd. He and his wife, Gabi, welcomed their daughter, Penelope, to the family in May. The Siegels reside in Norwell, MA.

Josh Tant is a new Casualty Broker at RT Specialty in Charleston, SC.

2016

Holly Adington is an Architectural Historian for New South Associates, Inc. Ms. Adington earned her MS in historic preservation and conservation from Clemson University in 2023. She resides in Nashville, TN.

Savannah Childress Allen married Brandon Allen in October, and the couple resides in Marietta, GA.

Lauren Heatley Emerine and her husband, Chandler, welcomed their daughter, Eleanor, to the family in May. The family resides in Hanahan, SC.

Brittney Evans is a Strength and Conditioning Coach at Academic Magnet High School in North Charleston, SC. She earned her MS in exercise, health, and sports science from The Citadel in 2022.

Jessica Avery Feeney and Seamus Feeney ’17 welcomed their son, James “Jamie” Feeney, to the family last October. The couple married in 2022, and they reside in Derwood, MD.

Clare Hogan is an Advisory Services Analyst at Mathematica. In May, she earned her Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Training Institute. Ms. Hogan resides in Somerville, MA.

Jackie Killius married Gerald Anderson in June, and the couple resides in Asbury Park, NJ.

Kelby Leford Pleasant married Joe Pleasant in May, and the couple resides in Nashville, TN.

Hammed Sirleaf Jr. is the inaugural Associate Director of the University of Pittsburgh’s newly formed Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life. Mr. Sirleaf earned his MS in educational leadership studies from Oklahoma State University in 2018. He resides in Pittsburgh, PA.

Alyssa Dudley Steel is the new Senior Manager, Nationwide Peer to Peer Programs, for Autism Speaks. She and her husband, Jon, reside in Durham, NC.

Carria Treveiler is a Teacher at Great Falls Elementary School. She received the Teacher of the Year award from the Chester County School District for the 2021-22 school year. Ms. Treveiler earned her MA in curriculum and instructional technology from Coker University in 2022. She resides in Chester, SC.

2017

Grace Barry is a Teacher at Septima P. Clark Academy. She was a top-five finalist for Charleston County School District’s 2024 Teacher of the Year award. Ms. Barry resides in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Lukas Cramer is a new Senior Analyst with Public Consulting Group. He earned his MPP from the University of Denver in 2019. Mr. Cramer resides in Lakeway, TX.

Tate Moore Divine married Jordan Divine in June, and the couple resides in Crozet, VA.

Bijan Ghom (MBA) has been named to Super Lawyers’ list of Rising Stars for the third-straight year. Mr. Ghom is a Senior Counsel in Saxton & Stump’s Charleston, SC office. He earned his JD from the Charleston School of Law in 2017. Mr. Ghom resides in Charleston, SC.

Jason Katz has been promoted to Food and Beverage Manager at the Thompson Denver luxury hotel in Denver.

Caleb Melton joined Impact Advisors as a Managing Consultant in April. Mr. Melton earned his MS in project management from The Citadel in May 2023 and his MBA from The Citadel in May of this year. He and his wife, Hannah, welcomed their daughter, Monroe, to the family last April. The Melton family resides in Charleston, SC.

Kat Noviello joined RKD Group, a nonprofit fundraising and marketing solutions company, in March as the Associate Director of Strategy. Ms. Noviello resides in Wilmington, NC.

Charlotte Pinckney has been promoted to Manager, PR & Media Relations, at Insight Global. Ms. Pinckney resides in Atlanta.

Sara Maria Segoviano is the new Assistant Director of Fitness & Wellness at Tarleton State University. She earned her MS in health and physical education from The Citadel in 2019. Ms. Segoviano resides in Stephenville, TX.

Emily Mangum Walker and her husband, Lawrence, welcomed their daughter, Caroline, to the family in June. The couple married in 2020, and they reside in Lexington, SC, with their son, Shuman, and daughter, Caroline.

2018

Riley Knudsen is a Baseball Coach and the General Manager of Asteri Sports Performance. He played baseball at the College from 2017-18. Mr. Knudsen resides in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Naomi Hillegass Scott is a Business Support Analyst at Safe Harbor Marinas. She and her husband, Griffin Scott ’16, welcomed their son, Leon, to the family in January. The alumni couple married in 2022, and they reside in Beaufort, SC. The Scotts recently made gifts to CofC’s SSM Quasi-Endowed Diversity Enhancement Fund.

Lauren Mowers Tepedino is the Owner of Destination Dance, a company she founded in 2020. She also serves as a Volunteer Assistant Coach with the Dance Team at Charleston Southern University. Ms. Tepedino married her husband, Tyler, in 2021, and the couple resides in Moncks Corner, SC.

Andrew Whitfield is the Marketing Director for Resilient Life Mentoring LLC. Mr. Whitfield resides in Mount Pleasant, SC.

2019

Kristine Arnau married Raymond Gross ’19 in June. Ms. Arnau is a Program Coordinator with Mecklenburg County, NC. She earned her MPH from the University of South Carolina in 2021. Mr. Gross is a Designer with 505Design. He earned his MArch from Clemson University in 2022. The couple resides in Charlotte, NC.

Amy Briere is the Project Manager, Construction & Development, for Beemok Hospitality Collection. Ms. Briere resides in Charleston, SC.

Jonathan Brown is a Research Regulatory Specialist at the Medical University of South Carolina. He earned his MBA with a focus on healthcare administration from South University in 2021. Mr. Brown resides in Cross, SC.

Chynna Chan is an Account Manager at Amsive Digital. In May, she was recognized with the company’s BRAVO Award for her efforts during the previous quarter. Ms. Chan resides in North Charleston, SC.

Ross Kemp is an Account Manager at HealthTrust Performance Group. Mr. Kemp resides in Nashville, TN.

Marquise Pointer is the new Head Coach of Lucy Beckham High School’s varsity boys’ basketball team. Coach Pointer was a member of the Cougar Men’s Basketball team during his time at the College. He and his wife, Kennedy Madison Pointer ’19, a former volleyball player at the College, reside in Summerville, SC. The Pointers recently made a gift in support of the Cougar Club’s Volleyball Fund.

Meg Dunavant Revere is an Upper School English Teacher at Currey Ingram Academy. Ms. Revere earned her MA in English language and literature from the University of Tennessee in 2021. She married Ed Revere in June, and the couple resides in Nashville TN.

Will Rowe ’19 (MAT, history ’22) married Emily Thrift in June. The couple will be moving to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, where he will start his PhD studies in the fall at the University of Saskatchewan.

2020

Mary Rinne Jackson Bird is an iTero Inside Sales Representative for Align Technology. She married Hilton Bird in June, and the couple resides in Raleigh, NC.

David Bonezzi (MEd) is a Teacher at Carolina Park Elementary School. He was named a top-five finalist for Charleston County School District’s 2024 Teacher of the Year award. Mr. Bonezzi resides in Charleston, SC.

Elif Caynak earned her Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine from the Royal Veterinary College at the University of London in June.

Zainab Dossaji started an internship with the Election Law Clinic at Harvard Law School in June. Ms. Dossaji is a JD candidate at the University of Michigan Law School with plans to graduate in 2026. She is from Spartanburg, SC.

Dawson Frondorf is a Registered Representative with New York Life. Mr. Frondorf resides in New York City and recently made gifts to CofC’s Alumni Association Fund.

Angelica Goudelock is a Specialist with the Atrium Health Core Laboratory. Ms. Goudelock resides in Charlotte, NC.

Nikos Lara is a Senior Sales Executive at AvantStay. Mr. Lara resides in Charleston, SC.

Anna Katherine Baldwin Malone married Charles Malone in June, and the couple resides in Charleston, SC. Ms. Malone recently made a gift to CofC’s Alumni Association Fund.

Hampton Slagle recently took on an expanded role within Hines supporting Lease and Risk Management for all Southeast mixed-use assets. Additionally, he joined the Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School’s Junior Board in March as a Board Member supporting the advancement of its Corporate Work Study Program. Mr. Slagle resides in Atlanta.

2021

Clare Clever has been promoted to Air Traffic Logistics Lead at Leidos, a Fortune 500 company that provides technology and engineering services for a variety of industries. He and his wife, Janneke Morin Clever ’21, reside on Johns Island, SC.

Emilie Crossan is an Architectural Historian at BVL Historic Preservation Research. She earned her MArch from University College London in 2023. Ms. Crossan resides in Summerville, SC.

Ruthie Foster is the Arts & Cultural Events Coordinator for the Town of Kiawah Island. She is pursuing her MA in arts administration from Winthrop University with plans to graduate in August. Ms. Foster married Misha Pekar ’22 in May, and the couple resides in Charleston, SC. Ms. Foster recently made a gift in support of CofC’s German Program fund.

2022

Chris DuRant is a Communication Specialist for Jet Logistics, Inc. Mr. DuRant resides in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Grace Lowe is a Meteorologist at WCBD in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Arianna Moore is the new Executive Director of Latin Ballet of Virginia. Ms. Moore resides in Chesterfield, VA.

Michael Jerome Plunkett (MFA) sold his first novel, Zone Rouge, to Unnamed Press in March. Mr. Plunkett resides in Columbus, OH.

John Silva is a Data Analyst at the American Museum of Natural History. Mr. Silva resides in Westfield, NJ.

2023

Carlie Blankenship joined the specialty services department of Mary Welch Fox Design in June. Ms. Blankenship resides in Charleston, SC, and recently made a gift to CofC’s Alumni Association Fund.

Carolina Champlin is a Leasing Specialist with Greystar. Ms. Champlin resides in Charleston, SC.

Eryn Faggart joined the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District, as a Hydrographic Surveyor in June.

McKenna Hakanson (MEd) was named the 2024 Charleston County School District Teacher of the Year. Ms. Hakanson teaches at North Charleston Creative Arts Elementary School and is the first teacher to win the honor in school history. She resides in Charleston, SC.

Chase Murray is the new Bid Coordinator at Southpaw Solutions. Mr. Murray resides in Greenville, SC.

Brenna Reilley (MA) is the new Associate Curator at the Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston, SC.

Camden Roller was promoted to National Sales Manager at Toadfish in April. He married Marion DeRusha Roller ’23 in May, and the couple resides in Mount Pleasant, SC.

2024

Gavin Hammersley joined the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office as an IT Intern in June. Mr. Hammersley resides in Summerville, SC, and recently made a generous gift to CofC’s Alumni Association Fund.

Liza Malcolm is the new Digital Media Coordinator for Planned Parenthood South Atlantic. She resides in Savannah, GA.

Riley Mazey will spend nine months in Vienna participating in the Fulbright Austria U.S. Teaching Assistant Program to expand her abilities to teach a foreign language, develop lesson plans, and create engaging activities for students.

Alex Ostendorff joined Integrity Express Logistics as a Logistics Account Executive in June. Mr. Ostendorff resides in Charleston, SC, and recently made a gift to CofC’s Alumni Association Fund.

Adam Schaich joined the Entegris Leadership Development Program in June where he will spend the next three years as a Materials Quality Engineer at the company’s Hillsboro, OR, location.

Channing Smith is a Junior Digital Platform Developer at Thrive. Ms. Smith resides in Charleston, SC, and recently made a gift to CofC’s Alumni Association Fund.
