The Honorable Frank Cornely joined the College’s faculty as an Adjunct Professor of business law in January. Judge Cornely is the Owner of Cornely Law Firm and the Chief Municipal Judge for the Town of Sullivan’s Island, SC. He earned his JD from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1987. Judge Cornely and his wife, Kathleen Parker Cornely ’84, reside in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Eric Frazier was recently promoted to Senior Communications Officer at The Duke Endowment. Mr. Frazier earned his MS in journalism from Columbia University in 1989 and spent more than two decades of his career with The Charlotte Observer. He resides in Huntersville, NC.

Lynn Benton Foster initiated her small business venture, Palmetto Paper Crafts, in January. Palmetto Paper Crafts offers an assortment of handcrafted cards and gifts for weddings, graduations, baby showers, and other special events. Ms. Foster and her husband, Thomas, reside in Bluffton, SC, with their three children.

Neal Gross joined Fidelity Bank as a Senior Business Development Officer in January. Mr. Gross and his wife, Caroline, reside in Greenville, SC.

Felisa Grant McDavid is a retired Principal with the Horry County School District and now serves as an Education Consultant with the Columbia Urban League. She earned her MEd in school administration from Cambridge College in 2003 and her EdS in education leadership from Albany State University in 2021. Ms. McDavid and her husband, Ray, reside in Myrtle Beach, SC.

John Rutenberg has been named to Greenville Business Magazine’s list of the Grand Strand’s 50 Most Influential People of 2024. Mr. Rutenberg is the Market President, Myrtle Beach, for Truist Bank. He and his wife, Kim, reside in Myrtle Beach, SC, with their children. The Rutenberg family are generous supporters of multiple CofC funds.

Ellen Hawes Grover is a Partner at Best Best & Krieger, a law firm based in Bend, OR. She also serves as General Counsel for The Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon. Ms. Grover earned her JD from Lewis and Clark Law School in 1998. She and her husband, Todd, reside in Bend, OR, with their two sons.

Ramona Montjoy has been honored with the 2025 Friend of World Languages Award by the South Carolina Fellowship of Language Teachers & Advocates. Ms. Montjoy is the Senior Training and Qualifications Development Specialist at Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC. She earned her MEd in educational and instructional technology from Lesley University in 2010. Ms. Montjoy and her husband, Frank Smith, reside in Summerville, SC.

Dee Bowers is the Director of Credit Settlement Risk at Visa. She earned her MBA from Winthrop University in 2004. Ms. Bowers resides in Atlanta.

Mel Helms Bundschuh is a Financial Advisor with Waterstone Financial. She married Mac McGehee in 2023, and the couple resides in Jacksonville, FL.

Derrick Williams has been elected President of the Richland County Bar Association for 2025. Mr. Williams is a Founding Partner at Williams & Roche, LLC. He earned his JD from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2002 and currently serves on the College’s Board of Trustees. Mr. Williams and his wife, Alana, reside in Columbia, SC, with their daughters, Regan and Deana. The couple are stalwart supporters of CofC’s Alumni Association Fund and 1967 Legacy Program Fund.

Carlo Goodson Dawson is an Author, Storyteller, Educator, Teaching Artist, and Founder of the Power of PROGENY Foundation (Pioneers Reaching Out for the Greater Elevation of Our Nation’s Youth). Ms. Dawson earned her MEd in curriculum instruction from Lesley University in 2015. She and her husband, Chris, reside in Rock Hill, SC, with their two children.

Tawana Hayes-Newton is a Clinical Supervisor at The Wave International. Ms. Hayes-Newton earned her MA in human resources management in 2008 and her MA in vocational rehabilitation counseling in 2013, both from Webster University. She married Cameron Newton in 2021 and the couple resides in Lugoff, SC.

Katie McDonald Windham is the Owner of Love Katie Darling, which features Ms. Windham’s original art, reproductions of original works, and products created from original works. She and her husband, Justin, reside in Metairie, LA, with their four children.

Jeff Bogdan earned his LLM in taxation from Georgetown University in December. Mr. Bogdan serves as General Counsel for FLEXSPACE. He earned his JD from the Charleston School of Law in 2007. Mr. Bogdan resides in Charleston, SC, with his wife, Kelley Bowers Bogdan ’05, and their children. The couple recently made a gift to CofC’s J. Stewart Walker, Jr. Operating Fund.

Angus Hager-Guthrie joined the College’s Department of Public Safety as a Police Officer in November. He and his wife, Caroline Loy Guthrie ’10, reside in Summerville, SC.

Asher Watson joined The Jeffcoat Firm as a Criminal Defense Lawyer in January. Mr. Watson earned his JD from the Charleston School of Law in 2012. He and his son, William, reside in Greenville, SC.

Annie DuPre was promoted to Program Director, Field Operations, at GVI South Africa in January. She earned her MA in global policy studies from The University of Texas at Austin in 2015 and her MS in resource conservation biology from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2023. Amber Shifflett Hentz was named the Market Chief Executive Officer at Acadia Healthcare in January. She earned her MHA from the University of Arkansas Grantham in 2021. Ms. Hentz resides in Cape Coral, FL.

Jared Stopford is a Managing Partner at Stopford Capital. He earned his MS in finance from Vanderbilt University in 2013 and his MBA from the University of Pennsylvania in 2022. Mr. Stopford resides in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Jackie Greenberg is the Account Specialist Manager, Enterprise Off-Road, at Michelin North America. She earned her MS in management and leadership from Southern Wesleyan University in 2018. Ms. Greenberg resides in Summerville, SC, and recently made a gift to CofC’s Alumni Association Fund.

Evan Justyn is a Combat Arms Instructor with the 421st Combat Training Squadron at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. He earned his Air Force Advanced Instructor certificate in subject matter expert training in 2022. Mr. Justyn resides in Point Pleasant Boro, NJ.

Lauren Harvey Worthy and her husband, Johnny, celebrated the birth of their son, Oliver, in September. Ms. Worthy is a Curriculum Coordinator at Dexter Southfield School. The family of three resides in Arlington, MA.

Rae McClaine Aartun was promoted to Director of Payroll at The Cliffs, seven private luxury communities in North and South Carolina, in December. She and her husband, Aaron Aartun ’13, reside in Pickens, SC, with their children.

Shane Silpe joined Renaissance Learning as a Team Manager, Customer Success, in January. He earned his MEd in curriculum and instruction from the University of Louisiana Monroe in 2014, his PhD in educational leadership from the University of South Florida in 2019, and a certificate of specialization in strategy, business, and commerce from Harvard Business School Online in 2024. Dr. Silpe resides in Charlottesville, VA.

Dronica DeBerry is an Educator with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. She earned her MEd in reading instruction from The Citadel in 2017 and her MA in educational technology from Gardner-Webb University in 2024. Ms. DeBerry resides in Charlotte, NC, with her daughter, Madelyn.

William Harrison is the Hotel Manager at The Ryder Hotel in Charleston, SC.

Fred Quick Jr. married Breannah Davis-Bloom ’15 in December, and the couple resides in Goose Creek, SC. Mr. Quick is the Associate Director of Admissions and Recruitment at The Citadel Graduate College. He earned his MS in Leadership in 2021 and his MS in project management in 2023, both from The Citadel. Dr. Davis-Bloom earned her MS in early childhood special education from Radford University in 2017 and her EdD in special education curriculum and instruction from Liberty University in 2021. The couple recently made a gift to CofC’s Alumni Association Fund.

Emily Clisham Schachat and Simon Schachat ’14 celebrated the birth of their daughter, Caroline, in September. The family resides in Hoboken, NJ.

Jake Alexander is the new Vice President, Commercial Real Estate, at Wells Fargo in Charlotte, NC. Mr. Alexander earned his MS in real estate finance and development from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2022.

Carson Gernert has been promoted to Vice President, Investment Banking, at Bank of America in Charlotte, NC. Mr. Gernert earned his MBA from Emory University in 2021.

Sara Beekman Heath and Jeffrey Heath ’16 celebrated the birth of their daughter, Jade, in August. Ms. Heath is the Director, Business Loans Renewals, for SnapCap by LendingTree. Mr. Heath is a Sales Manager at JEAR Logistics, LLC. The couple resides in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Michelle Smith McGrail was selected for a place in the Aspen Institute’s Education and Career Mobility Fellowship 2024-25 class. Ms. McGrail is a Talent Development Program Manager at Amazon. She and her husband, Joseph, married in 2023. The couple resides in West Chester, PA.

Nicholas Roach is the Co-Founder of Mad Trapper, a business that specializes in making outside products for outside people. Mr. Roach earned a graduate certificate in data analytics, visualization, and computer science from The University of Texas at Austin in 2018 and his MS in sport product management from the University of Oregon in 2023. He resides in Austin, TX.

Kyra Beaudoin Diarbakerly is a Travel Planner with Pixie Dusting Plans. She married Samuel Diarbakerly in Naples, FL, in December. The couple resides in Boston.

Tanner Hoisington is a Senior Software Engineer at Storygrounds. He and his wife, Isabella, met during a Study Abroad trip in 2016. The couple resides in Mount Pleasant, SC.
