Black Alumni Council Mentor Application

Please complete and submit this form to volunteer to become an alumni mentor for Black students, including those participating in the
1967 Legacy Program, the Black Student Union, and other campus programs.

Mentors will provide students with support and encouragement to thrive at the College and eventually Cross the Cistern to receive their degrees. Student mentees are eager to hear advice and learn from CofC alumni professionals who have walked the brick pathways of the College before them.

The College will provide a one-hour training session for volunteer mentors on both June 30 and August 4 to share best practices and tips for success. Volunteer mentors must agree to attend one of the two webinars offered (or watch a recording) before being assigned a mentee.
*The last day to submit a mentor application for the 2021-22 school year is August 4; the last day to view the training video is August 15. Email Meredith Chance at chancem@cofc.edu by August 15 once you have watched the training.

You are encouraged to meet with your mentee virtually, via phone calls or an online meeting platform. The Black Alumni Council plans to celebrate this important program during Fall Alumni Weekend, with a reception on Friday, November 19, so we hope you will plan to attend and meet your mentee in person.

For any questions, please contact Meredith Chance ’16, Associate Director of CofC Clubs & Affinity Groups, at 843-953-6631 or chancem@cofc.edu.
