Driving Change and Helping Our Communities Thrive

TD Bank has a long-standing history of supporting its customers, colleagues and communities through events, programs, projects and activities that make a positive local impact. Our employees live and work in these neighborhoods, and we want to be more than the bank with lollipops and dog treats.

Corporate Citizenship isn’t just a catchphrase at TD Bank–we take it as seriously as we do our passion for banking convenience and world-class customer service. We’re committed to driving change that will enrich the lives of those in the communities in which we live and work. Because of this, we are proud to support many worthwhile organizations across our footprint, including the Lowcountry.

We are able to support these local organizations and programs through something called the TD Ready Commitment, TD’s corporate citizenship platform, which aligns TD’s business, philanthropy and people to drive impact in the communities we serve.

Through the TD Ready Commitment, TD will give approximately $755 million toward community giving across four drivers of change to help people live with greater financial confidence and support the changes necessary to create a more inclusive and sustainable future. Those pillars are Financial Security, Connected Communities, Better Health and Vibrant Planets.

At TD Bank, we are fortunate to have the College of Charleston as one of our strong community partners. We have enjoyed a long-standing partnership with the College of Charleston through the TD Arena for many years, and we recently announced the extension of our partnership for another 10 years. If you have visited the TD Arena recently, you hopefully noticed updated signage on the exterior of the Arena, as well as new interior and way-finding signage. We have also added two new TD Bank ATMs on campus for added convenience for our customers and the community. With the extended partnership, we are excited to have even more involvement with CofC Athletics, faculty, staff, students, alumni and the Charleston community.

We were also pleased to serve as a Platinum Sponsor of CofC’s 250th anniversary celebration last year. The College has played a vital role in the city of Charleston and the state of South Carolina, and TD was honored to play a role in the milestone celebration.

In addition to our partnership with CofC, TD Bank is also proud to support many other community organizations who are working tirelessly to make a difference in the Charleston area. In 2020, TD Community Development Corporation (TDCDC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of TD Bank, N.A., provided an equity investment of more than $5.5 million to the International African American Museum through a New Market Tax Credits allocation to assist in its construction project and opening. The TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank, also provided $250,000 to support the museum’s Center for Family History.

TD also supports the Medical University of South Carolina, Lowcountry Food Bank, Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, SC Aquarium, Charleston County Parks and Recreation and many other incredible organizations whose work is helping make the Lowcountry the thriving community it is.

However, our communities need us now more than ever. The recent pandemic has created massive social and economic disruption for individuals and communities around the world. We believe that timely investment in targeted expertise has the potential to help build long-term resilience for our communities.
COVID-19 has fundamentally challenged the banking industry, along with so many others. However, while the pandemic has hastened several of our strategic imperatives, our core strategy remains unchanged – TD Bank will outperform its peers by prioritizing convenience, service, advice and community support.

“TD Bank is proud of our long-standing partnership with the College of Charleston and the Lowcountry community,” said Brian Culp, Retail Market Manager for TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank. “We remain committed to giving back and working together to make the Lowcountry an even better place to live and work.”

TD is deeply committed to our operations in the Charleston area. The Lowcountry is experiencing tremendous growth, with Charleston being one of the fastest growing cities in the country. And, we are growing with you in an effort to offer more convenience and better serve the financial needs of our customers and the community.

In addition to our existing locations across the Lowcountry, we recently opened a new Store location in Mt. Pleasant in October of 2021. Another Store location is currently under construction in North Charleston and is slated to open this Spring. If you’re in the area, we’d love for you to stop by one of our convenient locations! You can even bring your four-legged friends with you.

Whether you’re running a business or running a household, TD Bank appreciates every one of you. We are proud to be part of the Lowcountry and the College of Charleston community, and we are honored to stand with you as we work together toward a better tomorrow.
